Home Remedies for the Seasonal Flu

Hydrogen Peroxide in Bath Water

The following is a partial and updated reprint from the 2008 edition of the Journal of Immunity. The H2O2  treatment in bath water has worked effectively for measles, chicken pox, influenza and numerous other conditions when a systemic infection is present. ONE TREATMENT IS USUALLY ALL THAT IS NEEDED.

Go to the store and buy 12 pint bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Fill a bathtub full of hot water. Add all 12 pints to the water. Stir and get in. Use a watch. Sit in the water for 20 minutes. Get out and dry off. You are done. Now go rest and drink plenty of liquids. The hydrogen peroxide in small amounts is absorbed through the skin into the blood stream where it kills off viruses and bacteria and other pathogens.

I have talked to many people where this one treatment has eliminated various serious chronic conditions. This treatment is powerful and turns on the immune system. The treatment can be repeated once every two days if needed. If your problem is not gone after two treatments, you need to see a health care professional.

Notice: Anyone with an organ transplant should not use this treatment as it could lead to an organ rejection. Anyone with a pacemaker should check with their physician.

Optional – Oral Use of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2)

One teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide (drug store variety) in a glass of water taken once every 4 hours. Use on an empty stomach only. Repeat up to 4 times a day. Be sure to consult with your doctor and have him monitor your use of hydrogen peroxide and other home remedies.

Del-Immune V and Beta Glucan

A highly effective product for colds and flus made from Lactobacillus Rhamnosus (broken cell wall or Lysated). The cell walls of L. Rhamnosus instantly turn on the immune system. Del-immune.com Beta glucan is also used to activate the macrophages, a type of white blood cell that engulfs bacteria and viruses. Del-immune reduces the duration of a cold and flu.

Safe Flu Remedies

Many of the remedies listed for the common cold also work for the flu. Fasting is imperative for recovery from the Flu. Rest and drink lots of water.  Eating the wrong foods will prolong the flu. Avoid all milk products and all wheat products. Eat only if hungry.

Consider raw onions on rye crisp or raw garlic on rye crisp, sauerkraut, chicken rice soup, Wakame in chicken broth, Leek soup. If body temperature is low, use an electric blanket.

For the intestinal flu

1. One half cup of Sauerkraut (warmed up in a pan) with slices of one or two cloves of raw garlic- eat this a couple times daily. Kills bacterial and viral infections of all kinds.

2. Stop eating – let yourself go hungry.

3. Charcoal capsules – 3 capsules every 4 hours with a glass of water. Helps to absorb toxins and the flu virus in the stomach area. Burned toast may be taken in place of charcoal capsules if the latter is not available. Best used with hot tea, (green, spiced or black tea).

4. Olive leaf extract – 15% to 20% oleuropein – 2 capsules every 4 hours.

5. Neem bark or neem leaf capsules – 2 capsules every 4 hours

6. Apple cider vinegar – one or two teaspoons  in a glass of water every 2 to 4 hours.

7. Ginger root – fresh grated – one teaspoon every 2 to 4 hours. Eat plain or add make a tea.

8. Yarrow: If you are not sweating, drink yarrow tea and if you do not have a fever, take 2 or 3 cayenne capsules with the tea to elevate your body temperature.

9. Slippery Elm tea – good to sooth the mucus membranes of the intestines, lungs and sinuses.

10. Buckwheat honey. Buckwheat is the most effective although most kinds of raw honey also contain anti microbial properties.

Chest infections/pneumonia

Place a towel soaked in 3% hydrogen peroxide solution over the chest area where there is pain and congestion. Do this for 30 minutes once every 4 hours. Get professional help if breathing remains difficult.

Sees-2000 (one capsule every 4 hours) or LDM-100 – roots of lomatium dissectum extract (20 drops in water once every 4 hours)

Pleurisy root tea – drink for chest pain and congestion. – reduces water in the chest area.

Raw garlic or garlic oil ointment over chest area. Inhale the aroma of fresh garlic cloves to clear the sinuses and lungs.

Avoid immunosuppressive treatments like Aspirin for the Flu

Aspirin should be used only if the fever is really high (103° F or higher). When you lower a fever you are also suppressing the immune response. Of the dozens of remedies for the cold and flu that are advertised, most relieve symptoms but also suppress the immune response. If a fever is broken by suppressing the immune response ( e.g. aspirin etc), that is bad as it will lengthen the time for recovery. If the fever if broken because the treatment kills the infection, that is a good treatment since it gets to the cause of the problem and is not just a palliative. This is why hydrogen peroxide, ozone, neem and garlic are so effective as treatments for various infections including colds and the flu.

Remedies for Clogged Sinuses

Here are a few personal tidbits for clogged sinuses –

Peppermint oil. It works fast and can be used as often as you need it. Buy a one ounce bottle and open it directly under your nostrils and inhale deeply.

Lemon juice – fresh squeezed – mix half and half with water. Use a dropper and with your head back, place several dropperfuls into your nostrils. Inhale until it comes out of the back of your throat.

Salt water – add one-half tsp of sea salt to 1/4 cup of warm water and use this as a nasal wash as you would the lemon juice. Salt water can also be used as a gargle.

Garlic clove aromatherapy – take a fresh clove of garlic and poke it with a fork – place it close to your nostrils and inhale deeply. Garlic odor kills most viruses and bacteria on contact.

Eucalyptus oil – spray some on your pillow before going to bed to keep your sinuses open while you sleep.

Inhalation therapy with steam -Bring a pan of water to a boil. Shut off heat and place a towel over your head and place your head over the pan of steaming water. Add a few drops of Vicks Vaporub or Eucalyptus oil to the hot water and inhale deeply.

For asthma, bronchitis, wheezing

Magnets; Wheezing and tight bronchial tubes caused by allergies or inflammation can be relaxed by placing the north pole of a magnet over the bronchial tube area, between the base of the throat and the heart.

Wild cherry bark tea – relaxes bronchial tubes

Guaifenesin – expectorant.

On a personal Note

C LeBeau. I have a sensitivity to milk products and almost a food addiction to them (cheese and ice cream) so I can rarely avoid them completely for more than 4 or 5 days. Then when my guard is down, I eat more and it weakens my humoral TH2 defenses and I get a cold or sinus infection. I can tell you from personal experience that I have tried every cold remedy listed here and they all work, some better than others. Depending on the severity of the cold, you may need to try several remedies at once to get satisfactory results.

Healing Baths

Feb 1, 2018  Healing Baths for sore muscles, joints and other purposes

Conrad LeBeau
In today’s fast world, the relaxing bath has been replaced by the fast shower. Most city water has chlorine and or fluoride added. Many people, including myself, don’t like either the smell or the drying effects of chlorine on the skin. A few years ago, I hired a plumber to install a whole house filter to my water system. Its purpose was to remove most of the chlorine. A low cost alternative to a whole house filtering system is discussed at earthclinic.com. The earth clinic website recommended using vitamin C (ascorbic acid powder) to remove the chlorine and Borax to remove the Fluoride.

After installing a new tub surround and a new faucet for the bathtub, I have been testing and enjoying the benefits of bathing, something I have done without for several years. Recently, I have tried a 20 minutes soak in warm bath water with 2 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar added. I found the experience to be very refreshing and loosen tight muscles and tendons.

I also tried adding 1 cup of Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) plus a 1/4 cup of Borax to a tub of bath water. I have found this very beneficial to loosen tight muscles and tendons in the legs. Last year in November, I developed a persistent pain in my left knee. While I am getting physical therapy instructions once a week, I have found that adding either Apple Cider Vinegar or Epsom Salts to be very beneficial. With Epsom salt I also added 1/4 cup of Borax to the bath water for the mineral boron.

In researching the subject of healing baths at earthclinic.com, I came across a very detailed and interesting article on healing baths written by the editors of eartthclinic.com. They discuss using a wide variety of therapeutic baths including the use of –

  • Apple Cider Vinegar – an amazing remedy for multiple purposes.
  • Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate)
  • Borax
  • Hydrogen Peroxide – to oxygenate the blood – kill infections systemically.
  • Oatmeal bath – for itchy skin conditions
  • Activated Charcoal – to pull poisons out of the body
  • Herbal baths- for multiple purposes
  • Baking Soda – to alkalize the body
