LIPITOR can cause serious side effects
by Conrad LeBeau
Within the past year, I have spoken with two local senior citizens, Don W. and Earl D, (both over 80 y.o.) who live in southeastern Wisconsin, and took the cholesterol lowering drug, Lipitor, and who have reported as a side effect muscle wasting and weakness. Both men had to discontinue the use of Lipitor.
Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) is a statin drug used by millions of people to lower the bad LDL cholesterol and increase the good HDL cholesterol. Drugs.com reports about 2% of the people have side effects. However, the side effects of Lipitor and most prescription drugs are vastly under-reported as doctors rarely discuss adverse effects with their patients. Patients who develop new symptoms are left to guess whether or not this drug or that drug is the cause and whether the symptoms indicate that some new health problem is emerging. It is a fact that one drug alone can have dozens of side effects. It is not uncommon for some drugs to have 50 or more side effects. Adverse effects can occur immediately or after several months or years.
Here is a list of some of the side effects that may be caused by Lipitor from drugs.com.
"Gastrointestinal - Gastrointestinal side effects have been the most commonly reported. These have been reported in less than 4% of patients and have included constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain. Diarrhea has been reported in up to 5.3% of patients and may be dose-related. Other gastrointestinal side effects observed with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have included pancreatitis, anorexia, and vomiting. Most effects tended to be mild and transient
"Hepatic- In clinical trials, liver enzyme elevations returned to pretreatment levels upon discontinuation or dose reduction of atorvastatin (the active ingredient contained in Lipitor) Nawrocki and colleagues reported elevated bilirubin levels in 2/30 patients and elevated AST and ALT levels in 1/30 patients. Hepatic side effects including altered liver function have been observed with all HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. In premarketing clinical trials, up to 0.7% of patients experienced persistent, elevated AST and/or ALT values greater than three times the upper normal limits on two or more occasions. Elevations of liver enzymes may be dose-related. Other hepatic side effects of the HMG-CoA class have included hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, fatty changes in the liver, cirrhosis, fulminant hepatic necrosis, and liver failure.
"Musculoskeletal - HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) have been associated with rare cases of severe myopathy and rhabdomyolysis, accompanied by increases in creatine kinase, myoglobinuria, proteinuria, and renal failure. Concomitant use with gemfibrozil (fibric acid derivatives), niacin, cyclosporine, erythromycin (macrolides) or azole antifungals may increase the incidence and severity of musculoskeletal side effects. Other variables associated with an increased risk of statin-induced myopathy include, advanced age, small body stature, female gender, renal and/or hepatic dysfunction, perioperative periods, hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus, and alcoholism. A case of atorvastatin-induced early-onset (after 4 doses) rhabdomyolysis has been reported in a patient with nephrotic syndrome.
"The authors suggest that the patient's underlying renal dysfunction may have predisposed the patient to rhabdomyolysis. Musculoskeletal side effects have included uncomplicated myalgia and arthralgia. Milder forms of myotoxicity (i.e., myalgia) are commonly reported and occur in approximately 5% to 7% of patients taking a statin drug. Rhabdomyolysis and myopathy related to HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor use have been reported rarely. One case of atorvastatin-induced dermatomyositis has been reported. Tendon rupture has been reported in postmarketing surveillance.
"Hematologic - Hematologic side effects including hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia have occurred with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. These effects may be manifestations of a hypersensitivity reaction.
"Nervous system - Nervous system side effects of headache and weakness have occurred with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. In addition, at least one case of polyneuropathy attributed to atorvastatin (the active ingredient contained in Lipitor) use has also been reported. Other nervous system side effects reported with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have included dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, cranial nerve dysfunction, tremor, vertigo, memory loss, decline in cognitive function, paresthesias, peripheral neuropathy, and peripheral nerve palsy.
"Renal - Renal side effects including acute renal failure secondary to rhabdomyolysis have been reported with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
"Endocrine - Endocrine side effects associated with the use of other HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have included hypospermia, gynecomastia, and thyroid dysfunction. In addition, acid maltase deficiency (the genetic disorder also referred to as Pompe's Disease) has been revealed following HMG-CoA therapy in at least one presymptomatic patient.
"Hypersensitivity - Hypersensitivity reactions have been observed rarely with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. Symptoms have included anaphylaxis, angioedema, allergic reaction, urticaria, fever, chills, flushing, malaise and dyspnea. Bullous rashes including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis have occurred.
"Psychiatric - Psychiatric side effects of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have included decreases in libido, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. In addition, nightmares have been associated with atorvastatin (the active ingredient contained in Lipitor) use. Psychiatric side effects reported postmarketing have included cognitive impairment (e.g., memory loss, forgetfulness, amnesia, memory impairment, confusion) associated with statin use. These cognitive issues have been reported for all statins. The reports are generally nonserious, and reversible upon statin discontinuation, with variable times to symptom onset (1 day to years) and symptom resolution (median of 3 weeks).
"Genitourinary - A 77-year-old female with a history of hypercholesterolemia experienced hemorrhagic cystitis coincident with atorvastatin (the active ingredient contained in Lipitor) therapy. She presented with gross hematuria of approximately 4 weeks duration. She had been given atorvastatin 5 mg daily approximately 1 week before the onset of her hematuria. Urinalysis showed grossly bloody urine with too-numerous-to-count red cells on microscopic examination.
Biopsy of the affected areas of the bladder showed congestion of superficial mucosal vessels and mild infiltration of the epithelium and lamina propria with polymorphonuclear leukocytes and lymphocytes, consistent with benign, acute, and chronic inflammatory process. The patient discontinued atorvastatin therapy but continued with her other medication regimen. Her hematuria resolved within 1 week of discontinuing therapy with atorvastatin. At the insistence of her prescriber, she once again was given atorvastatin, with a rapid recurrence of her hematuria. She once again discontinued atorvastatin, and her hematuria rapidly resolved. Genitourinary adverse effects associated with other HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have included erectile dysfunction, impotence, and testicular pain. At least one case of hemorrhagic cystitis has been reported.
"Dermatologic - Dermatologic reactions have occurred rarely. In premarketing trials, up to 3.8% of patients complained of a rash. Phototoxicity has been associated with atorvastatin (the active ingredient contained in Lipitor) A case of dermatomyositis has also been reported.
"Cardiovascular - Analysis of study data has shown an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke in patients treated with atorvastatin (the active ingredient contained in Lipitor) who had a stroke or TIA within 6 months preceding treatment compared to placebo. Cardiovascular side effects occurring since market introduction have included angioneurotic edema, peripheral edema, and chest pain. Atorvastatin may also increase the incidence of hemorrhagic stroke in patients with a history of recent stroke or TIA.
"Respiratory - Respiratory symptoms reported since market introduction have included bronchitis, rhinitis, pharyngitis, and sinusitis. Ocular Ocular side effects including a case of reversible ophthalmoplegia as well as a case of ocular myasthenia have been reported. A 60-year-old woman with hypercholesterolemia treated with atorvastatin developed painless horizontal diplopia, vertigo, blurry vision, elevated anti-acetylcholine receptor (anti-AchR) antibodies levels, ataxia, and paresthesia of the upper extremities. No other medications were reported.
Neurological exam revealed generalized hyperreflexia and finger-nose and gait ataxia. Ptosis was present in both upper eyelids. Discontinuation of atorvastatin resulted in symptom resolution and anti-AchR levels within normal limits. A 67-year-old women treated for hypercholesterolemia with atorvastatin developed myogenic ptosis and variable incomitant horizontal and vertical strabismus consistent with ocular myasthenia.
Following discontinuation of atorvastatin, the patient experienced significant clinical improvement with only mild residual aponeurotic ptosis after 2 months. Immunologic Immunologic side effects including a possible case of atorvastatin-induced reversible positive antinuclear antibodies have been reported. Other Other side effects reported during clinical trials (in more than 2% of patients) have included infection, accidental injury, flu syndrome, abdominal pain, and back pain.
Other side effects reported postmarketing have included anaphylaxis, angioneurotic edema, bullous rashes (including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis), rhabdomyolysis, fatigue, tendon rupture, fatal and nonfatal hepatic failure, dizziness, depression, peripheral neuropathy, and pancreatitis." With a rap sheet this long, who would want to take Lipitor?
The term "rap sheet" is the incredible list of adverse effects that can result from taking Lipitor, a statin drug. It is quite obvious that this long list of illnesses, and, even death, is a side effect acceptable to the US Food and Drug Administration when it approves a patented drug like Lipitor. It is the influence of the money power on Wall St that allows patented drugs to continue to dominate western medicine where low cost non-patentable food-based remedies are shunned and ignored because they are not FDA approved and won't make a profit for those who hold the legal license of a medical monopoly.
All those in government who allow these unjust monopolies to continue have hands as dirty, indeed, as bloody, as those of the marketers of these toxic drugs.
What advice doctors who practice nutritional and dietary protocols offer as an alternative to Lipitor and other equally toxic patented drugs
Excerpts from the archives of Dr Mercola -
July 1, 2006 - Two lawsuits have been filed against drug manufacturer Pfizer, Inc. claiming its cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor caused lasting muscle damage -- and the company didn't adequately inform the public about the potential side effects. The men behind the separate lawsuits both said they experienced debilitating pain, weakness and memory problems after taking Lipitor, a statin drug. The symptoms subsided after the drug was stopped, but pain, fatigue and a tingling sensation in the hands and feet still remains, one of the men said.
Lipitor is the best-selling medication in the world and generates over $12 billion a year for Pfizer. Dr. Mercola's Comments: Statin drugs are being prescribed like candy for millions of people.
If these recommendations were implemented Lipitor could be one of the first $100-billion drugs. What most of these experts fail to realize is that statins kill people -- lots of people -- and they wound many, many more. All patients taking statins become depleted in Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) eventually -- those patients who start with relatively low CoQ10 levels (the elderly and patients with heart failure) begin to manifest signs/symptoms of CoQ10 deficiency relatively rapidly -- in six to 12 months. Younger patients can tolerate the statins for several years before they begin developing symptoms.
The bottom line here is that when you treat the symptoms of high cholesterol with a drug you are in no way, shape or form treating the cause. It should come as no surprise that the artificial drugs cause serious side effects. Why risk your health by taking drugs when there are very simple things you can do to normalize your cholesterol levels? The first is to lower your insulin levels by eliminating sugar and grains............ And, for most people with high cholesterol level, the primary reason their cholesterol is elevated is due to their high insulin levels.
On a side note, eliminating sugar and grains will inevitably cause beneficial side effects, such as normalizing your weight, increasing your energy and lowering your blood pressure and triglycerides. You can find out more about this in my book, Total Health Program. This approach helps normalizes cholesterol levels in nearly everyone -- unless they have a genetic defect called familial hypercholsterolemia.
Secondly, you can take a high-quality fish or krill oil that is chock full of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. It is important to find a fish oil that is independently tested by a lab and found to conform to purity guidelines. This will ensure that the oil is free of mercury and other toxins.
Additionally, if you are a man, or a woman who is in menopause, you should check your iron levels as elevated levels of iron can raise cholesterol levels and cause major oxidative damage in the blood vessels, heart and other organs. Excess iron is also one of the major contributing factors of cancer risk. Regular exercise is another important tool that may reduce your risk of heart disease. End of Dr Mercola quotes.
At his website, Dr Mercola has written several articles on Lipitor and other statin drugs as well as how to use diet and exercise to reduce your risk of heart disease. Search Mercola.com
[While we agree with most of Dr. Mercola's advice in this article, especially avoiding refined sugar that spikes insulin and blood sugar levels, we do not agree that it is also necessasry to avoid organic whole grains to have healthy cholesterol levels as part of a balanced diet. We support the consumption of stone ground, coarsely ground, organic whole grains, and breads and crackers made from these grains. We also believe that periodic fasting on whole grain bread and water is beneficial to us - both physically and spiritually. Conrad LeBeau]
Diet and supplements to help prevent cardiovascular disease
1. Think Raw - raw vegetables and raw fruits.
2. Food sources of lecithin a fat and cholesterol emulsifier - raw organic sunflower seeds - eat a handful each day. Soak them in water and sprinkle them over humus on whole grain toast.
3. Bee Pollen - contains 25% lecithin - take 3 capsules 2 or 3 times a day.
4. Nutritional yeast - one tablespoon daily is a powerhouse of nutrients that support heart, immune, and circulatory health.
5. Raw flaxseed oil - a powerful source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Keep it refrigerated and take one tablespoon daily with orange juice or other juice. Flaxseed oil and chia seed, another source of omega 3 thins the blood. Avoid highly processed foods (crackers, snacks etc) with flaxseed in them.
6. Cayenne - one capsule with meals 2 or 3 times a day helps prevent blood cells from sticking together and can stop a heart attack in progress. Helps balance blood pressure.
7. Raw garlic - 1 or 2 cloves sliced and eaten with whole grain crackers helps lower the bad cholesterol and strengthens the immune system, lower and balance blood pressure.
8. Pectin - an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Pectin emulsifies fat, and helps clean the arteries.
9. Raw organic vinegar - one teaspoon taken with a glass of water with meals 2 or 3 times a day - a fat emulsifier. Consider other fermented drinks including Kombuchu tea. How about marinated vegetables?
10. Celery - one or two stalks daily helps lower and balance blood pressure.
11. Passion fruit pulp - 2 or 3 ounces added to a smoothie will lower blood pressure significantly within minutes.
12. Diet (cultured, occasionally meatless, organic coarsely ground whole grain nread and crackers). Supplements to help lower blood sugar will help also prevent obesity and heart disease.
These include black seed powder or oil - one capsule with meals 3 times a day. GTF Chromium - 200 mcg daily, berberine HCL - use as directed and cinnamon - 2 capsules 2 or 3 times a day. Bitter melon. Royal Jelly - helps improve circulation. Oral Chelation Formula No 1 by Golden Pride and distributed by VitaminsDirect.com. They also make OC Max, a balanced chelation formula containing edta, royal jelly, serrapeptase enzymes, sodium alginate, rose hips, and other synergistic factors.
Avoid or limit use of common food allergens like eggs, corn, soy, refined wheat, milk, chocolate, and ice cream, GMO corn and soy and meat from animals fed GMO grains. Avoid artificial flavorings like MSG, colorings, flavorings and preservatives.

An HIV patient in Milwaukee began using Black Seed powder (Cumin) on Aug 9th, 2014, in an attempt to duplicate an apparent "cure of HIV/AIDS" published in the African Journal of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2013.
The article was posted on this website on 8/3/14 (See link below).
Milwaukee, WI - On August 9th, 2014, Patient R, a caucasian male began taking 2 capsules of Black Seed powder with meals three times a day. The local experiment is based on a case study of 4 years duration done in Nigeria. The first 6 months of the Nigerian study involved the use on Nigella Sativa (Black Seed) as a monotherapy for HIV. Local testing in Milwaukee and emails from the author, Dr Onifade, led to the initial observation that about 3000 mg of black cumin powder was consumed daily in the Nigerian test case. The Nigerian patient had restoration of normal CD4 helper cell counts and a consistent non-detectable hiv viral load for more than 2 years after the treatment was discontinued. Equally surprising was a consistent non-detectable antibody test for HIV that began in the 6th month of treatment. At that time, the treatment was discontinued and two years hence, the HIV virus remains non-detectable and the patient has a fully restored CD4 cell count.
The difference between the Nigerian case and the current ongoing Milwaukee test case is that no honey was added to the Black Cumin powder and the dose was divided into 3 portions taken with meals 3 times a day. Like the Nigerian case, no pharmaceutical anti-virals for HIV are being used while the Black Seed powder study is underway. The baseline CD4 count and PCR viral load test was taken in July, 3 weeks before starting the Black Seed protocol - Patient R's baseline labs are an absolute CD4 count of 262 and an HIV viral load of 10,571.
The first test results after using the Black Cumin (in capsule form) will occur sometime next month in October (about 60 day after starting the herbal remedy), and the results will be published on this website.
Note: This local experiment is possible because patient R's doctor took him off all HIV antiviral drugs due to adverse side effects; the doctor is currently monitoring his viral load and immune status every 3 months while he is on this "drug holiday." Patient R plans to inform his doctor at their next meeting in October on his use of Black Cumin at the same time blood is drawn for new labs tests. Anyone reading this report who has questions or wants more specific details on what patient R is doing can email me. Write "Black Seed" in the subject line.
Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) induced a sustained sero-conversion in an HIV patient
This study was published in the African Journal of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (2013) 10(5):332-335. The authors are Abdulfatah Adekunle Onifade, Andrew Paul Jewell & Waheed Adeola Adedeji. The email address to reach the author is abdufattah_sa@yahoo.com
Immunology unit, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) is also known as Black Seed, Kalonji and Haba Al-Barakah. The medicinal uses of Black Seed have been written about in both Islamic and Christian literature for thousands of years. Black seed (Cumin) is used as a spice in Mexican, Spanish, Indian, and Asian cooking.
This study was brought to my attention by a reader who recently emailed me a link to this article. The abstract states the following:
Abstract Nigella sativa had been documented to possess many therapeutic functions in medicine but the least expected is sero-conversion in HIV infection which is very rare despite extensive therapy with highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART). This case presentation is to highlight the complete recovery and sero-conversion of adult HIV patient after treatment with Nigella sativa concoction for the period of six months.
The patient presented to the herbal therapist with history of chronic fever, diarrhea, weight loss and multiple pruritic lesions of 3 months duration. Examination revealed moderate weight loss, and the laboratory tests of ELISA and Western blot (new blot 1 & 2) confirmed sero-positivity to HIV infection with pre-treatment viral (HIV-RNA) load of 27,000 copies/ml and CD4 count of 250 cells/ mm3 respectively. The patient was commenced on Nigella sativa concoction 10mls twice daily for 6 months.. He was contacted daily to monitor side-effects and drug efficacy. Fever, diarrhea and multiple pruritic lesions disappeared on 5th, 7th and 20th day respectively on Nigella sativa therapy. The CD4 count decreased to 160 cells/ mm3
Repeated EIA and Western blot tests on 187th day on Nigella sativa therapy was sero-negative. The post therapy CD4 count was 650cells/ mm3 with undetectable viral (HIV-RNA) load. Several repeats of the HIV tests remained sero- negative, aviraemia and normal CD4 count since 24 months without herbal therapy. This case report reflects the fact that there are possible therapeutic agents in Nigella sativa that may effectively control HIV infection.
The full article which I obtained discusses a 46 year old man who had fever and diarrhea started treatment with a herbalist in August of 2009. He was monitored daily. The only treatment the patient used was the Nigella Sativa and honey mixture (60% Nigella sativa and 40% honey). He used no prescribed drugs. He started with a viral load of 27000 and a CD4 count of 250. Within the first 20 days of treatment, all his symptoms had disappeared.
At the end of the first month, his viral load dropped to 1000 and his CD4 count declined to 160. At the end of the second month, his viral load was less than 50 copies and his CD4 count increased to 190. At the end of the 3rd month, his viral load was non-detectable and his CD4 count was 270.
For the first 5 months, his Elisa and Western Blot test were positive for HIV. At the end of the 6 month his CD4 count had increased to 650 and for the first time his antibody test was negative.
His herbal treatment was discontinued after 6 months. After 12 months, his CD4 counts were at 840 and his antibody test was still negative. At the 47th month, his CD4 count was 880, his viral load was nondetectable and his Elisa and Western Blot were still negative. To me it appears this patient was cured of AIDS with 6 months use of Nigella sativa.
This was a single case, well documented, and with impressive results. However, there are some unanswered questions and I emailed them to the authors earlier today. They are.
1. Was the mixture of 40% honey and 60% Nigella sativa based on volume or the weight or each ingredient?
2. Since 10 ml (about 2 teaspoons) was used twice a day, was the mixture made of ground Nigella Sativa seed mixed with honey or the Nigella sativa oil (Black seed oil) mixed with honey?
Reply received August 5th from:
abdulfatai adekunle onifade 10:32 AM (1 hour ago) to me
"It is based on volume. Honey is to make it easir for nigella sativa seed. Seed is the most preferred. Thank you" Dr AA ONIFADE
In a second followup email. Dr Onifade said that the black seed (nigella sativa) was a fine ground powder that was mixed with the honey. Based on the 10 ml dose twice daily, and making a honey and black cumin powder mixture in my kitchen, I was able to estimate the total Black Seed (Cumin) daily intake of the patient in this article at around 3000 mg.
Update: August 12th - Amazingherbs.com has a plain original black cumin caspules in bottles of 100 for $15.00. Each capsule has 475 mg cumin without any added honey. Thus, two capsules of this Black Seed (cumin) powder taken with meals 3 times a day should provide a daily therapeutic dose (2850 mg) based on the African model.
The authors concluded their article with this statement:
It was concluded that the sustained sero-conversion induced by Nigella sativa concoction in this HIV patient means that all HIV cells at all stages in infected cells in the body must have been lysed. Therefore, there is need to further study more HIV patients on Nigella sativa therapy and its virucidal effect on this pandemic virus.
Note: Black Seed (Nigella sativa) oil and Black Seed capsules are sold in health food stores. amazingherbs.com is one source but there are probably others. Some people may not be able to tolerate the ground herb as a supplement but may tolerate the Black Cumin seed oil better. You may email your comments to us about this article.
Ebola - Symptoms, Transmission, Treatments and Prophecy
August 12, 2014
Conrad LeBeau
The Ebola virus derived its name from a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire), in Africa, where it was first recognized. (1) There are 4 subtypes of Ebola virus, three of which can infect humans. The virus is believed to have originated in the tropical jungles of Africa and may have an animal host (fruit bats and monkeys) for its origin. Ebola belongs to a class of viruses known as hemorrhagic viruses. Hemorrhagic virus are known to cause bleeding and may cause death by excess bleeding.
Other types of Hemorrhagic viruses
On March 1, 1952, an article in the British Medical Journal discussed an epidemic of a hemorrhagic virus in Korea known as "Songo Fever" where it attacked United Nations forces in Korea. In 1939, the Japanese reported the same disease and called it "Kokka" disease. The British Medical Journal said the origin of this disease was thought to be a mite that was transmitted by a field mouse. Symptoms include fever, rash, myalgia, and albuminuria that lasts about 7 days. In severe cases there may be haemoptysis, haematemesis, haematuria, and melaena. The Japanese report the fatality rate at 13%. It is reported that antibiotics did not work.
Viral hemorrhagic fevers (VHFs) are of animal and human origin and may be caused by RNA viruses including Arenaviridae, Filoviridae, Bunyaviridae, Flaviviridae, and Rhabdoviridae. "All types of VHF are characterized by fever and bleeding disorders and all can progress to high fever, shock and death in many cases." (2)
Wikipedia also reports:
"Signs and symptoms of VHFs include (by definition) fever and increased susceptibility to bleeding (bleeding diathesis). Manifestations of VHF often also include flushing of the face and chest, small red or purple spots (petechiae), frank bleeding, swelling caused by edema, low blood pressure (hypotension), and shock. Malaise, muscle pain (myalgia), headache, vomiting, and diarrhea occur frequently. The severity of symptoms varies with the type of virus, with the “VHF syndrome” (capillary leak, bleeding diathesis, and circulatory compromise leading to shock) appearing in a majority of patients with filovirus hemorrhagic fevers (e.g., Ebola and Marburg), CCHF, and the South American hemorrhagic fevers, but in a small minority of patients with dengue, RVF, and Lassa fever."
The Ebola outbreak currently affects Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria. Ebola was first identified in 1976 and initially affected the Congo and Sudan. To make the diagnosis, malaria, cholera, typhoid fever, and other viral hemorrhagic disease must be excluded, The mortality rate of Ebola is from 50 to 90%. Recently the CDC reported that the incubation rate is from 8 to 21 days.
Published reports on symptoms of Ebola.
First symptoms (1, 2, 3) are -
1. fever, sore throat, muscle pains and headaches quickly followed by
2. nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, a red rash may cover part or all of the body, leading to
3. decreased functioning of the liver and kidneys and bleeding from multiple body parts.
4. advanced symptoms - tongue and mouth turn red, skin turns red, whites of eyes turn red, yellowing of the skin and red areas at the same time, bleeding from the eyes, nose, ears, mouth, rectum, vagina and penis. Where the virus was not treated, the skin turns black looking like severe burns.

How this Virus is spread
Direct contact with a patients bodily fluids. This not only includes touching a patient, but touching any clothes or objects they have touched or handled. Touching a door knob that an infected patient grasped could pass on the infection. Unlike HIV that requires body to body transfer of fluids, Ebola is spread easily. One person got Ebola by stealing and using a cell phone from a deceased victim. The cell phone had Ebola virions on it and passed it on to the user who then developed the disease. Thus, door knobs, water fountains, any public place could provide contact with a contaminated surface. How about a table and chairs? Public restrooms? Public swimming pools and recreation areas?
Airborne Transmission of the Ebola virus
While in the wild, there is no evidence of airborne transmission of Ebola, the news media reports that Ebola is not transmitted through the air. However, the media does this while offering no explanation why several doctors who are expertly trained not to pick up the Ebola or other infections are, in fact, coming down with the illness. The only obvious source of transmission was the air. Possibly, an Ebola patient could transmit the virus through the air just by talking. An unexpected cough or clearing of the throat could easily spill thousands of Ebola virions into the air. Don't believe CNN and other media outlets that continuously repeat the statement that Ebola is not airborne. One infected person on an international airplane could, by coughing and hacking, spread the Ebola virus to everyone else on the plane. No major city anywhere on this planet is even slightly prepared on how to handle an Ebola outbreak.
August 1, 2014, naturalnews.com reported the following:
In fact, a 2012 BBC article entitled "Growing concerns over 'in the air' transmission of Ebola" states: (3) Canadian scientists have shown that the deadliest form of the ebola virus could be transmitted by air between species. In experiments, they demonstrated that the virus was transmitted from pigs to monkeys without any direct contact between them. In their experiments, the pigs carrying the virus were housed in pens with the monkeys in close proximity but separated by a wire barrier. After eight days, some of the macaques were showing clinical signs typical of ebola and were euthanised. Read more here:

Hillary Clinton ignores the mass poisoning of America's food supply by Monsanto's GMO corn and soybeans as she accepts $225,000 in speaking fees before a biotechnology convention in San Diego.
Fooddemocracynow.org reported that in her recent speech in San Diego "Clinton went on to say that she supports "[GMO] seeds and products that have a proven track record." In particular, she acknowledged the type of drought-resistant seeds that she touted during her tenure as U.S. Secretary of State. During her speech, which took place at the San Diego Convention Center, some Americans who know the truth about GMOs' "track record" protested outside; they noted that at least 26 countries have banned GMOs from their agricultural production and food marketplaces.
Note: Drought resistant corn and soybeans is not what people are protesting about - it is the Bt pesticide and herbicides from GMO corn and soy that have contaminated our food supply. I guess Hillary is just like any other professional politican - accept the cash and ignore the science that gets in the way of generous campaign contributions. Why doesn't she and her counterparts in the Wall St Wing of the Republican party just put a "For Sale" sign on their back? Both political parties have a Wall St wing that needs clipping.
The following article and petition is by Katherine Paul of the Organic Consumers Association -To be delivered to Hillary Clinton-
Hillary Clinton could be the next Democratic presidential nominee. Do we really want someone in the White House who protects Monsanto's profits at the expense of public health? Scientists, medical professionals and climate experts warn us that a food and agriculture system built around poisons like Monsanto's Roundup and Dow's 2,4-D, a system that promotes soy and corn monocultures instead of crop diversity, is unhealthy for humans and the environment. Genetically engineered agriculture has failed. It has created superweeds that require increasingly toxic poisons, and those poisons are showing up in the blood, urine and breast milk of humans.
The United Nations last year issued a report entitled "Before It's Too Late," stating that not only will genetically engineered crops not feed the world, as the biotech industry claims, but they are a huge contributor to global warming. Polls show that 93% of Americans want GMO labeling laws. Yet politicians like Hillary Clinton, whose ties to the biotech industry run deep, continue to pander to Monsanto. Even Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who claims that he is pro-states' rights, has said he would not defend states' rights to label GMOs.
The next leader of the U.S. needs to take a stand against huge corporations that are devastating the environment and human health. If Hillary Clinton is not that leader, consumers will look to candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who has a proven track record of supporting states' rights to label GMOs, and the transition to organic, sustainable, regenerative agriculture.

GLUTATHIONE – A LIFE SUSTAINING MOLECULE
Ron Peters MD
Your life depends on a very small molecule called glutathione (GSH) that is found in every cell of your body. It is made of three amino acids and it serves three life sustaining functions:
- Glutathione is the most important and abundant antioxidant inside all the cells of the body, serving to neutralize free radicals.
- Essential for the immune system to fight infections and kill cancer cells.
- Detoxifying chemicals and heavy metals, and removing them from the body.
What medical science knows about glutathione
Intracellular GSH plays a central role in the functioning of all immune cells and is required for T and B cells to differentiate into fully active cells. Glutathione plays a critical role in maintaining cellular energy (ATP) production by protecting mitochondria from the oxidative damage from oxygen metabolism, and, reducing the damaging effects of mercury, lead and other heavy metals that can disturb and even destroy mitochondria.
The highest concentration of glutathione is found in the liver, making it critically important in the detoxification and elimination of free radicals. Accumulation of these dangerous compounds can result in oxidative stress, which occurs when the generation of free radicals in the body exceeds the body’s ability to neutralize and eliminate them. Acai frozen pulp – 2 to 3 ounces daily added to a fruit smoothie with 20 grams of whey protein helps burn abdominal fat. Use once a day in the morning.
Apple Cider Vinegar – raw and organic – One teaspoon in water taken with or between meals helps with digestion and weight loss.
Bee Pollen – contains 25% lecithin, a fat emulsifier, and is a natural source of probiotics, and trace minerals. Local bee pollen helps promote natural immunity to allergies from grass and trees. Start off with a few grains daily and gradually increase the dose.
Bitter Melon – supports normal blood sugar levels, and liver health.
Blackseed Oil made from Black Cumin – Adult dose – one tsp. twice daily. (helps with weight loss by increasing insulin sensitivity )
Castor Oil – used topically or orally – supports white blood cells function and counts – detoxifies the liver and other organs, kills parasites. Castor oil packs with a heat pad over the liver helps to reduce hepatitis viral loads; over the lungs – clears them of most chronic infections, kills parasites, improves breathing, promotes thymus gland function when done over the upper part of the chest.
Cayenne – helps with digestion, warms the body, combined with kelp increases body temperature, improves the action of other herbs. Daily use helps to prevent heart attacks. One teaspoon in a glass of water will stop most heart attacks and strokes in progress. Cayenne dissolves a blood clot, and unlike aspirin, will not promote bleeding.
Note: the longer you wait to use cayenne after a stroke or heart attack, the less effective it is. See your doctor before taking cayenne if you are on blood thinners.
Cinnamon – the spice to lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin resistance. Adult dose: 2 or 3 capsules twice daily.
Coral Calcium - fossilized from ancient sea coral beds. A great natural source of calcium and trace minerals. Often magnesium oxide is added to create a 2 to 1 ratio of calcium to magnesium. Taken before bedtime, it promotes sleep, stronger bones and teeth, dissolves calcium spurs, helps to prevent osteoporosis.
Curcumin with Turmeric – a powerful anti-inflammatory – reduces pain from multiple sources, used for arthritis and rheumatism.

Flu season is usually in the winter when the northern hemisphere is devoid of the sun’s virus killing UV rays. However, with days and weeks on end of rainy weather, and lack of daily sunshine, some kind of stomach flue bug began appearing locally.
Symptoms were stomach discomfort, chest congestion, low-grade fever and aching joints. Seeking to locate a store that sold Indian meals, I happened by chance upon a store brimming with Chinese herbs, most of them with labels written in the Chinese language and unreadable to me.
As I walked along the aisle, a Chinese man approached me and asked me if I needed help. I told him I had some kind of a cold or stomach virus and was looking for some spicy Indian meals that I could take home. He then invited me to sit down. He told me he was a doctor of oriental medicine. It was my first such encounter.
He then felt the pulse in my right hand, then my left hand and then again my right hand. He said: “you have fever right now, you have some stomach discomfort and a pain in your right shoulder. “ He did all this in about 2 minutes. I was amazed. How did he know all that about me? Everything he said was true.
He then went on his computer and starting typing. I couldn’t see what he was doing, but I patiently waited. After a few minutes, he said he could make a special formula for me. It would cost $91 and take about 2 and one-half hours to prepare. I asked him what was in it and he said there were 18 herbs and plants in this special formula. I thought, why not give this medicine man a try? I just did not have a lot of faith in allopathic doctors who only prescribe pills, and expensive ones at that. I said go ahead and gave him my credit card. I left and came back just before 4:30 pm that Saturday afternoon.
When I walked in I heard what sounded like a centrifuge in the back room and I could smell something cooking and it wasn’t cupcakes. It smelled like herbs, very aromatic and bitter. He came out and said it would be a few more minutes. When he emerged, he had a bag of prepackaged packets that were hot. Each contained about 4 or 5 ounces and the number was 25. The writing on each bag was all in Chinese. He said it would help improve my breathing and I would feel better. He was modest in his claims.
He told me to take 2 packets twice today and 2 three times a day the next day and then one 3 times a day for the next five day. I was advised to avoid lamb (which I rarely eat), avoid acid and spicy foods when using this formula. When I got home and took my first 2 packets, it was still very warm and quite bitter. However, within a few hours the fever had broken and the aching in my joints was letting up.
By the end of the next day, I was feeling much improved and I was amazed how quickly the formula worked. By the next day I felt so good, I spent two hours cutting my lawn that now looked like a hayfield. Because the grass was wet, the lawn mower died about 40 or 50 times. I restarted it each time with my right had by quickly pulling the cord.
However, by Thursday. I had sharp pains in my shoulder, but no signs of the stomach flu and respiratory problems that I had the previous Saturday. I thought that maybe I had pulled a muscle or ligament in my right shoulder. I wondered if the Chinese medicine man might have something to help me so I paid him a visit.
When I described what happened, he asked me if the cold was gone and I assured him I could breathe just fine, he then picked up two products made in China– one was for bone and joint health and the other one was for ligaments. Unlike the special mixture of 18 plants and herbs he had made up for me in the lab, these two products had names and the pills were small round beads. He told me how much to take after reading the instruction on the labels. He said to use these two together.
When I got home, I bit into the small beads of both products to taste them. Like the 18 herbal mixture he had previously made, both of these products were also very bitter. He told me to swallow one packet of the small beads and to take 8 pellets of the other one. I decided to try just 4 pellets of the smaller bottle along with the big packet of smaller beads.
To my amazement yet again, within a few hours, most of the pain I had in my shoulder was gone. I never did take the full dose he recommended as I felt I did not need it. I am now taking it intermittently as I need it. From my experience, this combination was a more powerful ant-inflammatory than Curcumin, that is extracted from Turmeric.
The products names Both herbal formulations for bone and joint health and for ligaments are made in China and labeled as Dietary Supplements.
Here are their names: Zhuang-GuGuan-Jie Wan Herbal Supplement. It comes in a red box and has 30 prepackages of small pellets. It is labeled as a Bone and Joint Formula.
Each box has 30 packets. Ingredients: Rehmannia root tuber, Sichuan teasel root, Loranthus twig and leaf, Drynaria rhizome, Psoralea fruit, Spatholobus stem, Epimedium leaf, Angelica root.
Gastex Pill (Tianma Duzhong Wan) (for ligaments) Each bottle has 100 pills – 20 mg each. Ingredients: Gastrodia root, Eucommia bark, Chinese Foxglove root, Cyathula root, Seven Lobed yam, Notopterygium root, Angelica root.

Monsanto and the Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA) sue Vermont to try to overturn its recently enacted law for GMO product labeling
A wide range of organizations are reporting the filing of this lawsuit that was promised by the GMA and Monsanto when Vermont's Gov. Peter Shumlin signed the nations' first ever GMO labeling law on May 8, 2014.
Support for GMO labeling laws by members of moveon.org is important and crucial as the organization has 8 million members and can generate a lot of petitions and email to state officials as well as Washington.
The following are excerpts from an email by Anna Galland of MoveOn.org on Jun 22, 2014. -
Last month, Vermont passed the first-ever law requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods in the U.S., and Monsanto just announced they're suing the state of Vermont to stop the law from ever going into effect.
This fight is crucial for the whole country, not just Vermont, because dozens of other states are poised to require labeling too—they just want someone else to go first because of the inevitable legal fight.
Monsanto is going to war to stop Vermont dead in its tracks. A small, rural state like Vermont doesn't have the budget for a long, drawn-out legal fight against a multinational giant like Monsanto. So they've created a legal defense fund where people can donate to help defend the law in court. If MoveOn members chip in now, we'll be able to fight back against Monsanto by making a grant to the state of Vermont's legal defense fund and by boosting dozens of MoveOn member-led campaigns pushing for GMO labeling nationwide. Help Vermont stand up to Monsanto. Monsanto's argument is completely outrageous. They're saying that the GMO labeling law is somehow an unconstitutional violation of their right to free speech. They even want to be able to label genetically engineered foods as "all natural."
This Supreme Court believes corporations are people and money is speech, so you know it's going to be a tough fight. Consumers have a right to know what's in the food we're eating—and in fact, genetically engineered foods are already labeled in 64 countries around the world, including England, Japan, and Australia. Even China and Russia have labeling.
In this country, 92% of Americans support the labeling of genetically engineered foods. The only reason we don't have it is the power of Monsanto and the fear of a lawsuit. But if we can help Vermont win now, we'll have a great shot at getting labeling in dozens of other states as well. With your help, Moveon.org will be able to help Vermont pay for their massive anticipated legal costs and support grassroots campaigns to push for GMO labels in other states across the country. Can you contribute $3 to help Vermont stand up to Monsanto?
Thanks for all you do.
Garlin, Maria, Justin, Alejandro, and the rest of the team

Report 23 - AT and T removes Wi-Fi (microwave signaling) from our modem
On March 10th, 2014, I reported in this blog that modems from AT and T, TWC, Comcast, and other internet providers area major source of microwave radiation, and equivalent to standing in front of a constantly running microwave oven or living near a cell phone tower. I verified the reading outputs with a Cornet Electrosmog Tester. Routers used for wireless connections also emit equally significant amounts of microwave radiation when actively in use.
Today June 16, our phone line with AT and T went dead and a technician was sent out to repair it. While the old modem was rebooted and uploaded with software, the technician decided to replace it with a new one. I showed him the box lined with double aluminum foil (that I had surrounded the modem with) to block the microwave signals. With the Cornet tester, I showed him exactly how much radiation was emitted by AT and T's modem and compared it to radiation leaking from a microwave oven. Both readings were in the red zone exceeding 180mw/m2.
He said he could disable the wireless WI-Fi signals from the modem. He made an internal adjustment to the new modem, and then entered it on my computer at AT and T's website. When the modem was turned back on, I no longer needed the aluminum box. The wireless microwave signals AKA WI-Fi was zero, just the way I like it.
If you have a modem from any of the major internet providers (Time Warner, AT and T etc), and use ethernet or cables to connect to your various devices like printers, fax machines, etc, you can call your internet provider and have them disable the wireless signals (the Wi-Fi) being emitted out of the main modem so you don't need to be microwaved while you are working at your desktop computer.
I have observed friends that use laptop computer and 99% of the time, they stay on a desk at home when they are being used. At home or office, people using wireless laptops are in locations where it is just as easy to use a wired connection. I would also give up wireless television (Uverse), and would only using wired connections instead.
My own theory is that the overload of high frequency energy in the form of microwave radiation is taking its toll on the human body and is especially affecting the brain, and the adrenal glands, in an adverse way leading to fatigue, insomnia, and contributing to many of the diseases of civilization.
A poison pill (FDA approval) kills medical marijuana use in Wisconsin
The Milwaukee Journal stated this morning (6/16/14) that a derivative of marijuana called cannabidiol (CBD) used to treat seizures was approved by the State of Wisconsin, and signed by Gov. Scott Walker two months ago. In spite of this, no doctor in Wisconsin has prescribed it. The reason is that someone in the State Senate inserted the requirement for "FDA approval." This was done without understanding the legal and financial burdens created by the "poison pill" would be insurmountable.
The issues are similar to those I raised in my own legal battle with the FDA in Federal Court, namely, non-patentable herbs and foods and traditional medicinal's will never be FDA approved, because the law requires a patent, and any investment in an FDA approval process would never be financially recoverable without a patent. One drug Marinol, is an FDA approved alternative to smoking marijuana to promote appetite and weight gain but is not the same product as cannabidiol (CBD).
Under the 10th amendment to the Bill of Rights, the State of Wisconsin or any other State can approve any drug, food, botanical or any Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) they want too - irrespective of the opinions of the FDA or any other federal agency. State legislators need to be reminded that under the U.S. Constitution, Art 1, Sec 8., Congress has limited powers, and the balance of powers is retained by the States and by the people. The right to use any substance for its medicinal value is retained by the States under the 10th and by the people under the 9th amendment (Freedom of Choice in Medicine).
The time is overdue for all states to legalize as medicine the use of food, herbs including marijuana, traditional chinese medicine, acupuncture, and all other CAM remedies, and with a patient's consent, any experimental treatment including FDA approved drugs for off label (non-FDA approved) purposes; and to state that all health care practitioners have the absolute right to use any of the foregoing remedies in the practice of medicine, and their license shall not be questioned for the use of any of the foregoing, regardless of the treatment outcome. Report 22 - VACCINE INDUCED OVERLOAD AND RELATED SERIOUS HEALTH IS BECOMING THE NORM NOT THE EXCEPTION IN US CHILDREN
May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — A new peer reviewed paper was published in a recent issue of Molecular and Genetic Medicine (S1:025, 2014) that presents convincing evidence that the rapid increase in the number of vaccines given to US children has now created a state of immune overload in the majority, or close to the majority, of young US children and that this is being manifested by related health issues including epidemics of obesity, diabetes, and autism. The new paper is authored by immunologist J. Bart Classen, MD.
"We have been publishing for years that vaccines are causing an epidemic of inflammatory diseases including diabetes, obesity and autism. However the number of vaccines given to children has continued to rise to a point where we have reached a state of immune overload in roughly the majority of young US children. The new paper reviews the evidence of immune overload and the plethora of different health effects the children are developing because of the immune overload," says Dr. J. Bart Classen, MD.
Dr. Classen's research indicates that the large number of vaccines given to patients is leading to an epidemic of chronic inflammation resulting in epidemics of autoimmune diseases, allergies, and a comprehensive inhibitory response manifesting as obesity and metabolic syndrome.
"The best data indicates that vaccine induced chronic disease is now of a magnitude that dwarfs almost all prior poisoning of humans including poisoning from agents like asbestos, low dose radiation, lead and even cigarettes. Most patients don't even realize that they are suffering from the adverse effects of vaccines. Even more concerning patients and or their parents are being harassed, accused of practicing poor dieting and exercise habits leading to development obesity and diabetes when in fact they suffer from vaccine induced obesity and diabetes," says Dr. J. Bart Classen.

May 22nd. Congress restricts mass NSA data collection of Americans with the USA Freedom Act
Report 21 (June 2, 2014)
Conrad LeBeau
Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, (my Congressman) who sponsored the original Patriot Act that started the mass collection of private data by the National Security Agency (NSA) has strongly criticized the agency for exceeding the powers granted to it by Congress after 911. Rep Sensenbrenner was a leading sponsor of the USA Freedom Act. The following was his statement on 5/22/2014.
Mr. Speaker, I want to thank the House for bringing the USA FREEDOM Act to the floor. I was Chairman of the Judiciary Committee on September 11, 2001. In the wake of that tragedy, the Committee passed the PATRIOT Act with unanimous, bipartisan support. The bill easily passed in both the House and Senate, and President George W. Bush signed it into law. I believe the PATRIOT Act made America safer by enhancing the government’s ability to find and stop terrorist attacks. We were also careful to maintain the civil liberties that distinguish us from our enemies.
We’re here today because the government misapplied the law and upset the balance between privacy and security that we had fought to preserve. In a feat of legal gymnastics, the Administration convinced the FISA court that, because some records in the universe of every phone call Americans made were relevant to counterterrorism, the entire universe of calls must be relevant. The decision opened the floodgates to a practice of bulk collection that Congress never intended.
Senator Leahy and I introduced the USA FREEDOM Act to end bulk collection, increase transparency, and re-establish a proper balance between privacy and security. After months of input and negotiations—in a historic echo of its vote on the PATRIOT Act—the Judiciary Committee unanimously passed the FREEDOM Act. The challenge we faced was to draft legislation that was tight enough to avoid abuse without infringing on the core functions of law enforcement and intelligence collection. Perfect is rarely possible in politics, and this bill is no exception. In order to preserve core operations of the intelligence and law enforcement agencies, the Administration insisted on broadening certain authorities and lessening certain restrictions. Some of the changes raise justifiable concerns.
I don’t blame people for losing trust in their government, because the government violated their trust. Let me be clear, I wish this bill did more. To my colleagues who lament changes, I agree with you. To privacy groups who are upset about lost provisions, I share your disappointment. The negotiations for this bill were intense, and we had to make compromises, but this bill still deserves support. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Today, we have the opportunity to make a powerful statement: Congress does not support bulk collection. The days of the NSA indiscriminately vacuuming up more data than it can store, will end with the USA FREEDOM Act. After the FREEDOM Act passes, we will have a law that expresses Congress’s unambiguous intent to end bulk collection of Americans’ data across all surveillance authorities. The bill requires that, in addition to existing restrictions, the government must use a Specific Selection Term as the basis for collecting foreign intelligence information. And maybe more importantly, after this bill becomes law, we will have critical transparency provisions to ensure that, if the government again violates our trust, Congress and the public will know about it.
The FREEDOM Act gives private companies greater discretion to disclose their cooperation with the government. These disclosures give company’s increased autonomy and will alert the public to the extent of data collection. The bill also requires public notification of any FISA decision that contains a significant construction of law—expressly including interpretations of the Specific Selection Term. This is the end of secret laws.
If the Administration abuses the intent of this bill, everyone will know. This is why the FREEDOM Act will succeed. It bans bulk collection and ensures disclosure of attempts to dilute it. Today’s vote is a first step—not a final step—in our efforts to reform surveillance. It gives us the tools to ensure that Congress and the public can provide an adequate check on the government.
In a post-FREEDOM Act world, we have turned the tables on the NSA and can say to them, “We are watching you.” I want to thank Chairman Goodlatte, Ranking Member Conyers, and Congressmen Scott and Nadler for all their hard work. I also want to thank the staff for so many long hours. I cannot overstate the amount of collective sweat and tears that my chief of staff Bart Forsyth, Caroline Lynch, Sam Ramer, Aaron Hiller, Heather Sawyer, and Joe Graupensperger put into this bill. But most of all, I want to thank my wife.
Cheryl has always been the world’s loudest advocate for the preservation of civil rights. She encouraged, supported—some might say demanded—that I lead this effort. There is no question that we would not be here for this historic vote on the USA FREEDOM Act if it weren’t for her. I urge my colleagues to support the USA FREEDOM Act and I yield back the balance of my time.

May 24th update - go here to see photos of the protest against Monsanto from around the world. The mass media continues to ignore these street protests. On May 24th, I watched NBC evening news with Lester Holt. It was brought to viewers by "Roundup" (Monsanto's herbicide). Apparently NBC is more interested in protecting its bottom line than to report the truth. Ditto for the other mass media whores (ABC- FOX - CBS). In spite of this, we must continue the battle against Wall St's economic oligarchs that continue to poison our food supply for their own profit.
Dr Ronald Peters MD co-authors a new updated version of the Immune Restoration Handbook
May 19 2014
The Immune Restoration Handbook was updated last month. It is now co-authored by Dr. Ronald Peters MD. Three articles he wrote on MindBody Medicine, Wisdom of the Body, and one on Nutrition have been included in this latest printing, which is an updated version of the third edition. The book has been reformatted into two columns with smaller paragraphs for easier reading.
A chapter on "Balance your Blood Sugar" has been added and an updated index is included. Every chapter in the book including the sections on GMO's, Symptoms and Remedies, and Hepatitis have been carefully reviewed and updated. By eliminating repetition, the number of pages and price remains the same. The gill sans font, which is easy to read, was retained. Although Ron Peters MD's name is on the front cover as a co-author, the book's cover looks basically the same as in the last printing.
Since the 3rd edition was introduced in 2010, all printings have been done in small lots so reprints can be updated twice a year. This is why there has been some gradual changes in content over time. In a constantly changing world, no edition will ever be the final edition until it is the final edition. Your purchase of our lifetime's work, the Immune Restoration Handbook, supports our mission to educate the public on many issues, and create a better world for all of us. Thank you for your support. Governor Peter Shumlin of Vermont signs the first GMO labeling law in the nation
Facebook statement on May 8 2014.
Today I was proud to sign the nation's first law requiring GMO labeling. Vermonters and Americans have the right to know what is in their food. It's common sense. We all have the right to know what is in our food. More than 60 countries already have laws restricting or labeling foods produced with genetic engineering. Now, Vermont is the first state to require common-sense labeling for foods produced with genetic engineering. Vermont’s first-in-the-nation law is expected to be challenged in court by food producers that do not want to disclose this information to consumers.
In April, the state of Vermont also set up a food fight fund to defend this law against expected court challenges from the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) and industry members who oppose the labeling of geneticially modified foods. Donations to the Food Fight Fund will help Vermont implement and administer its new law, and mount a powerful defense against these lawsuits. If you're able and willing to help us fight back, contribute to the Vermont Food Fight Fund
May 12, 2014. FDA v LeBeau - It is now 14 months and counting since the last legal arguments were filed in this case. Under court rules, the local Federal Judge must review the case before it can be forwarded to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. A letter requesting an update on the status of the review was mailed to United States Chief Judge Charles Clevert on April 21, 2014. No reply was received as of May 12th.
Vermont Passes No-Strings-Attached GMO Labeling Law!
The nation's first GMO labeling law is expected to be signed by the Governor of Vermont on May 8th.
April 29, 2014. Vermont consumers will be the first in the nation to have a clear choice. On April 23, the Vermont legislature passed a bill mandating that all GMO foods be labeled by July 2016. The bill will now go to Governor Peter Shumlin, who has said he will sign the legislation into law. Although Connecticut and Maine have already passed GMO labeling laws, Vermont’s bill is unique: unlike its New England neighbors, Vermont decided not to include a “trigger” provision in its bill. So while Connecticut’s and Maine’s bills won’t activate unless enough nearby states also pass GMO labeling laws, Vermont will immediately move forward with the labeling of GMO products. How to reduce eyestrain while using a computer
April 28, 2014
Report 16
Everyone who uses a computer for several hours a day will eventually get eye fatigue. Older computers put out radiation that can cause eyestrain. Eyestrain can cause stress and elevate your pulse rate and blood pressure. Eyestrain can result in increased oxidative stress and even lead to blurred vision and cloudy vision (cataracts). With so much dependence on computers, what steps can be taken to reduce stress and eyestrain while using a computer.
Most computers today are flat screen and do not emit excessive radiation. It is wireless computers and computer settings that can create real problems. HIgh levels of microwave radiation travel from the wireless modems to the wireless computer. This goes both ways when active use of the internet is underway. The best solution is to get wired and avoid as many wireless devices as possible. Use all cell phones, ipads, iphones and laptop computers for emergencies only. Cover all modems with a cardboard box lined with aluminum foil to prevent the microwave radiation from penetrating your body and your eyes. To prevent wireless devices from interrupting your sleep, turn off all wireless devices before bedtime and that includes cell phones. Don't accept AT and T wireless TV connections within a house.
This weekly message I am writing here is on an I-Mac that is connected to an AT and T modem with an ethernet cable. The printer and another PC computer are all connected with cables. All wireless devices are either disconnected or shut off.
This weekly message was designed to reduce eyestrain. There are no pop up ads, no flashing banners or blinking ads. The background color is a light tan. Black borders the sides of the screen are used to block bright white side lights. Most computers I have seen are too brightly lit. Black lettering on a white background is normally easy to read. However, computers, like most TV's are too bright, and emit too much light that stimulates and stress the pupils of the eyes. Televisions, like computers, also cause eyestrain.
On your computer or TV Menu, adjust the appearances, screen and display settings. Start off by reducing the brightness to minimum and reduce color to minimum settings. Reduce contrast if necessary. Most TV's cause eyestrain because they are too bright and the colors are too intense. The second cause of eyestrain are flashing scenes that change rapidly. Rapidly changing scenes in action movies and ads over stimulate the neurons from the optic nerve to the brain. You don't have that kind of mental stress watching the Lawrence Welk Show or older classical movies. Advertisements today shift from one to another without even allowing the brain to rest for one split second between the ads.
Bright lights, bright colors, bright blues and bright white are all hard on the eyes. The best background colors are black, dark gray, tan, and grass or forest green. The screen you are looking at here has a light tan background. The font is set slightly larger than most fonts to make reading easier. The columns have been narrowed. Today's TV programs alter reality. Adjust your TV so a scene looks like the real world when you look out of your window at a field of grass and trees. Here are some other things you can do to reduce eyestrain.
- Avoid CFL light bulbs and other sources of florescent lighting.
- Use incandescent or LED lights or natural sunlight if you have windows nearby.
- Reduce brightness settings under "preferences" or "appearances" to the lowest possible level.
- Set background color to black or gray. Avoid bright colors, as they are more intense.
- Avoid a bright white background.
- A background of soft off-white, almond, grass or forest green color may be easier on the eyes.
- Set type size larger (150%) than normal size (100%).
- Don’t stare at the computer.
- Blink frequently to relax the eyes.
- Shift your eyes away from the computer every few minutes or when you feel you need it.
- Take a 10 minute break every half hour..
Finally, boycott websites and TV programs that cause eyestrain with too much rapidly changing scenes, flashing lights, small lettering (fonts), bright lights, bright white background, too much negativity, too much "be afraid drama" and the sky is falling mind-set. You get the idea. Avoid jerky music, jerky cartoons and TV scenes that constantly change rapidly for effect. Don't feel pressured to follow the crowd. If you like mozart, classical music, Lawrence Welk, and a rocking chair, be proud of sanity, and enjoy it.

Russia bans GMO products - promotes organic farming
"Russia will not import GMO products and seeds, the country’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said, adding that the nation has enough space and resources to produce organic food. Moscow has no reason to encourage the production of genetically modified products or import them into the country, Medvedev told a congress of deputies from rural settlements on Saturday. “If the Americans like to eat GMO products, let them eat it then. We don’t need to do that; we have enough space and opportunities to produce organic food,” he said." Read more here

Study finds that exposure to sunlight early in the morning is linked to lower body mass index (BMI)
No 13, April 7, 2014
Conrad LeBeau
A study published on April 2 in Plos One magazine found that early risers who go outdoors have a lower body mass index. The title of the Plos One article: "Timing and Intensity of Light Correlate with Body Weight in Adults." The researchers for the study were Kathryn Reid, Giovanni Santostasi, Kelly Baron, John Wilson, Joseph Kang and Phyllis Zee. The goal of the study was to evaluate the connection between light, sleep and body weight. 54 individuals, average age 30, and slim built, or at an ideal weight, participated in the study, which consisted of wearing an Actiwatch-L for 7 days. This wrist watch measured the time and exposure to outdoor light. In a few words, exposure to early moring light correlated with a slimmer physique and was independnet of sleep duration and timing. Calorie intake was calculated from food intake during the study.
April 4, 2014. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel quoted an article in the Los Angeles Times that stated:
"Lighten up: Early risers have lower BMIs. To maximize your chances of fighting flab, new research offers some simple advice: Wake up early and go outside."
"In a study by Danilenko and colleagues, exposure to at least 45 minutes of morning light (between 6–9 am at 1300 lux) for 3 weeks in obese women resulted in reduced body fat and appetite that was not related to differences in photoperiod [3]. Similar findings were reported in a study by Dunai and colleagues that combined both light and exercise compared to exercise alone in obese women and found both groups had a significant difference in BMI but there were greater reductions in body fat in the women in the light and exercise group [4]."
There are 44 scientific refeences at the end of this article, many of which that support the authors hypothesis that light exposure, within the first few hours of sunrise in the morning is essential for regulating the satiety hormones, leptin and ghrelin. Taking a walk outdoors (without sunglasses) for 30 to 60 mnutes each morning may help reset the circadian clock of the wake-sleep cycle, reduce inflammatory reactions in the body, increase metabolism, and decrease appetite. The bottom line is that exercise (even just walking) for 30 to 60 minutes within an hour or two of sunrise will help melt away belly fat, and you don't have to spend any money to accomplish this. Dr. Marlin Gill of Decatur, Alabama, alleges Obamacare has imposed government regulations adding $100,000 in new annual costs for a small medical praqctice by increasing the number of medical codes from 13,000 to 70,000.
Report No 12

Conrad LeBeau
In a letter to US Rep. Mo Brooks, Dr. Marlin Gill wrote that Obamacare is a "war against doctors." The letter was read to Congress before Speaker John Boehner.
In his letter, Dr. Marlin Gill stated "As a practicing family physician, I plead for help against what I can best characterize as Washington's war against doctors."
"Doctors are smothered by destructive regulations that add costs, raise our overhead ........ making patient treatment slower and less efficient, thus forcing doctors to focus on things other than patient care and reduce the number of patients we can help each day."
"Washington's electronic medical records requirement makes our medical practice much slower and less efficient, forcing our doctors to treat fewer patients per day than we did before the EMR mandate,"
"In addition to the electronic medical records burden, we face a mandate to use the ICD-10 coding system, a new set of reimbursement diagnosis codes,"
"The cost of this new ICD-10 coding system for our small practice is roughly $80,000, again driving up health care costs without one iota of improvement in health care quality,"
An article at naturalnews.com discusses Dr. Gills letter to Congress. The article has a link to the Utube video where his letter was read before the House of Representatives.
Dr Ronald Peters MD is allowing us to publish a series of articles he wrote. This week's article is on Mindbody medicine. A link to this article and future articles has been added in the right column.
Excerpts from the latest issue of the Journal of Immunity (V12 N1) 2014 - A special issue on sugar and carb cravings
Report No 11
March 24, 2014
Conrad LeBeau
This is Part 2 of an ongoing series that discusses the use of diet and food-based nutritional supplements for preventing and treating various health conditions. J. I. Rodale, the founder of Prevention magazine in the 1950's once called sugar - "the curse of civilization." With food sensitivities, yeast overgrowth, insomnia, cancer, elevated blood sugar levels, insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension and heart disease being the main stay of America's health problems, this issue will focus on the role of sugar and refined carbohydrates in promoting insulin resistance, and obesity. Solutions include specific foods and supplements that substantially reduce cravings for sugar, sweets and refined carbohydrates. Being that I have had a sweet tooth most of my life, I have a strong personal interest in this topic.
The first quandary - should I eat for health or for pleasure?
In reality, most of us eat for pleasure. Eating for health is usually a secondary consideration. For those of us who watch the Dr. Oz show on daytime TV, he has offered a number of good approaches to shrink America’s bulging waistline. The basic dilemma is that while most of us know what to eat for a healthy diet, we also also find that sticking to a healthy diet is boring. For this reason, diets to lose weight send many of us on a yo-yo trip of starting and stopping randomly. The "yes I can" attitude has little to sustain it. It is easier to start a new diet tomorrow, next month, or next year. The human mind finds other excuses for delaying healthy lifestyle habits like taking a walk before breakfast, drinking more pure mineralized well or spring water, and periodic fasting. This issue also discusses how hard cheese is made and contains a powerful allergen "chymosin" (rennet) that does not appear on the label. Supplements that reduce sugar cravings and lower insuln resistance are among the topics covered. Read the entire 8 page newsletter here.
Update on the Ukrainian Crisis brought on by western bankers and the IMF austerity plan for Ukraine
Report No 10
March 17 2014
March 12, 2014 update from Kurt Nimmo of infowars.com states:
"Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the former central banker installed as the “pro-Western” interim prime minister of Ukraine, arrived in Washington on Wednesday. He will meet with President Obama and Vice President Biden and will also meet with members of Congress, the IMF, the World Bank and will address the UN Security Council."
"Ukraine, strategically located on the Russian border, is the keystone to turning Eastern Europe over to the European Union and its cartel of international bankers".
“According to a report in Kommersant-Ukraine, the finance ministry of Washington’s stooges in Kiev who are pretending to be a government has prepared an economic austerity plan that will cut Ukrainian pensions from $160 to $80 so that Western bankers who lent money to Ukraine can be repaid at the expense of Ukraine’s poor,” writes Paul Craig Roberts. “It is Greece all over again.”
"The austerity plan will cut social services, funds for education, layoff government workers, devalue the currency, thus raising the prices of imports which include Russian gas, thus electricity, and open Ukrainian assets to takeover by Western corporations… Ukraine’s agriculture lands will pass into the hands of American agribusiness.”
"Arseniy Yatsenyuk is in Washington to advance this agenda. He was handpicked by the U.S. State Department and the color revolution NGOs precisely to be a key actor in the next scene of the bankster orchestrated transformation of Ukraine and its subsumption by the European Union and its banking elite overlords."
Modems and Routers are major sources of Microwave Radiation
No 9 , March 10, 2014
Conrad LeBeau
Modems from AT&T, Time Warner Cable, Comcast and other internet providers are major sources of microwave radiation and parallel radiation that leaks from a microwave oven. (See Modem in left photo) These modems, even if ethernet wires are used, emit enough radiation to interfere with your sleep, brain function and cell signaling within the body.

How much radiation is being emitted?
Previous articles published on this website dealt with the hazards of microwave radiation from cell phone towers, cell phones, and wireless devices like Cellnet attached to electric meters that transmit data back to the electric company on how much electricity you are using. Recently, I was able to obtain a Cornet Electrosmog Meter (Model ED-85EX) with a digital readout. It reads frequencies from 1 MHz (megahertz) to 8GHz (GigaHertz). It measures total voltage and milliwatts per meter squared (mw/m2).
The instructions have more technical information than the average person, (including myself) can easily understand. The easiest feature to read and understand is colored lights that range from green (lowest exposure to microwaves) to yellow (cautionary) to red (a danger zone if sustained over a period of time). The device also has a sound feature but I found that colored lights (green., yellow and red) were the easier to read and understand than the sound feature. The meter is powered by a nine volt battery. The price tag is $175. Your can find them at lessemf.com and on ebay. I was unable to find any bargain prices. You get what you pay for. Having the original electrosmog detector made in England that emits sound only as the level of radiation gets higher, I was able to compare the sound level of one electrosmog detector with the colored led lights of the Cornet Electrosmog Meter. As far I as I can tell, they matched very close.
With the Cornet Electrosmog Detector, I compared microwave radiation levels emitted from a microwave oven, with an AT&T Modem, a Time Warner Cable Modem, a router, a CellNet device on an electric meter, a cellphone and a laptop computer.
First, I measured the amount of radiation leaking from a modern microwave (MV) oven. I placed a potato in the MV oven and turned it on to "medium." I found an instant significant leakage up to 10 ft in front of the microwave oven causing the Led light of the Cornet Meter to turn "red." This highest level of radiation (measuring up to up to 180 mw/m2) the "red" light was detected up to 10 ft away. However, on the sides of the microwave oven, there was no radiation leakage and the Cornet light indicator was "green," indicating a safe zone, with little or no leakage. However, the "yellow" light of the Cornet meter was measurable up to 20 ft in front of the microwave oven, indicating a need for caution.
The MV oven sends pulses of microwave radiation to cook what is placed inside. In the off cycle, no radiation is detected. You can hear when the pulse of radiation is emitted by the increased sound level and when the light of the Cornet Meter turns either yellow or red depending on your distance from the oven. No one should ever expose themselves continuously to a "red" level of microwave radiation. The "red" level was also detected up to 6 inches away from a cell phone and up to 12 inches away from a laptop computer. The red level was also detected within 6 inches of a battery operated mobile phone connected to a landline base inside the house.
The yellow zone was detected within a 1000 ft of a local cell phone tower and the red zone within 150 ft of a local cell phone tower. These results will vary from cell phone tower to tower depending on these factors. 1. The amount of wattage of radiation being emitted per user of wireless devices times 2. The number of persons using the devices times 3. The data being transmitted. [Images and pictures will draw and emit the highest levels of radiation while texting will emit the lowest amounts.] 4. The height of the antennas on the tower relative to the ground.
Antennas that are lower or closer to the ground will expose users to higher amount of radiation than antennas that are mounted at higher levels. It is possible that at the base of a cell phone tower where the antennas are 100 ft or higher above the ground that the radiation level could be very low. If your house or apt is at a higher elevation such as a hill, you will be exposed to significantly more radiation than if you live in a valley or on the first floor level of a building. A basement apt or a building with aluminum or steel siding or a metal roof provides near maximum protection.
Knowing that the red light indicates dangerous amounts of microwave radiation, I tested both TWC modems and AT&T. I found the results were about the same. The Cornet Meter light turned red within 5 to 10 ft of the modems and was active yellow up to 20 ft away. This means that when these modems are actively in use, they emit almost as much radiation as leaks from a microwave oven that is turned on and cooking food. Unlike the microwave oven that people my turn on for 5 to 10 minutes, these wireless devices expose people to dangerous levels of radiation for several hours a day.
People in apartment buildings need to be aware not only of what wireless devices they and their roommates are using, but what their neighbors are using as well. You could be sleeping while your neighbor is downloading a movie and you will get a significant dose of radiation if this is happening on the other side of the wall from where you sleep. You can install mirrors and double sided aluminum reflectix on the wall to reflect or block the radiation from entering your room.
Surprisingly, the Cornet Meter showed a weak yellow signal no more than 5 ft away from the CellNet transmitter on my electric meter. From my estimate, the cell phone, the laptop computers, the Modems and Routers are each emitting about 100 times more radiation than the Cellnet signals on my utility meter. If you are electrically sensitive, move to the first floor or even better, to a basement apt.
To block microwave radiation in my office being emitted by AT&T's modem, I found a cardboard box about 2 inches wider and longer than the modem. I lined it with double sided Reflectix which is like having two layers of aluminum foil inside the box. I cut out the bottom and one side of the box. I slide the open end over the modem so the open end faced the wall away from me. I now get a green light within 3 ft of the modem where previously I would have to test more than 20 ft away to get a green light. Search the keephopealive website on "faraday cage" for more information on how to protect yourself from microwave radiation. Home

Money Creation - from the Knight's Templars to Wall St is a new link in the right column of this website. This article has been extensively updated; it is a mini course in economics that you won't find in high school or on college campuses where textbooks have been sanitized of information on how bankers control not only the supply and availability of credit, but the mass media and the politicians they finance to elected office. In the United States, they are the economic oligarchs of Wall st, the heirs of John D Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan and many others. They are sometimes referred to as the "Money Changers" of Wall St.
The term "money changers" comes from the new testament where it is written that about a week before he was crucified, Christ drove the money changers from the temple. Bankers who have used their skills and trade secrets to amass great fortunes have sometimes been referred to by their critics as money changers or "the money power."
On the upper left above is a drawing of Mayer Anschel Rothschild (born 1744 died 1812), founder of banks throughout Europe. Wikipedia documents a 500 year history of the Rothschilds - the world's wealthiest banking family ansd financial dynasty.
The Rothschild bankers of Europe had a role in backing Alexander Hamilton's efforts to set up The First United States Bank. Thomas Jefferson, who opposed giving private bankers the power to control the nations' pursestring by expanding or contracting credit, warned - "I fear that banking institutions are a greater threat to our liberties than standing armies." After passage of the First National Bank Act, he said: "already they are so firmly mounted upon us that we must go where they will guide." Jefferson vice-president. Aaron Burr, was so against the Banking Act that he challenged its main proponent, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton, to a gun duel. While Hamilton got Congress to pass the Banking Act, Hamilton lost his life in the gun battle with Burr and died shortly thereafter.
The political battle of who should issue the nation's money has been going on for over two centuries. As of today, the banking system, not the federal government, controls over 95% of our money supply by the expansion or contraction of credit.
Why should we care about the history and evolution of banking?
The answer to this question is that we need to understand how a small group of people in the business of banking and lending credit (a form of money), have used their trade secrets to amass most of the world's wealth. In this process, they have created secret societies and financed kings and world leaders to advance their political and ideological goals which have included wars and the overthrow of governments. In the United States, the power of private bankers to collect interest on money they create has continued to widen the divide between the very rich, the working middle class, and the poor. They have become as creditors "the haves" while their borrowers, the debtors, have become "the have-nots."
Wikipedia has an extensively documented article on the Rothschild banking dynasty that started in Europe in the middle ages. Mayer Anschel Rothschild has been quoted as having stated:
"Give me the power to coin a nation's money and I don't care who makes its laws."
Wikipedia states:
Mayer Amschel Rothschild (23 February 1744 – 19 September 1812) was a German banker and the founder of the Rothschild banking dynasty, which is believed to have become the wealthiest family in human history. Referred to as the "founding father of international finance," Rothschild was ranked seventh on the Forbes magazine list of "The Twenty Most Influential Businessmen of All Time" in 2005.[1]
While this article proposes some solutions to the ongoing crises created by the financial forces in the banking business, more ideas on how to solve the money issue problem will be written about in the future including a plan to "democratize the banks" and give all members and account holders at all banks the power to elect their Board of Directors. The redistribution of power within the banking system to shift control from a handful of billionaires to the rest of us would, indeed, be revolutionary. [A plan to achieve this most worthy of political agendas has yet to be written.]
Why Russia has no national debt (owed in rubles)
With the fall of the Soviet Union and the rise to power of Boris Yeltsin, western bankers flooded into Russia and bought up billions of dollars worth of state businesses and energy resources for pocket change while Yeltsin savored Vodka daily in the Kremlin. His hand picked successor, Vladimir Putin, has reversed many of Yeltsin's mistakes. Putin took back many of the vast resources that his drunk predecessor gave away for pennies. He has jailed several of the billionaire oligarchs. For protecting Russia's best interests, the country has been ostracized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and western bankers because it won't let them take control of Russia's banking system. Russia's biggest banks are state owned. Unlike the United States and much of Europe buried in debt to private bankers, Russia has no national debt based on the borrowing of rubles.
Several few years ago, when IMF bankers went to the Duma, the Russian parliament, and asked them to stop printing Rubles (Russian money) to finance their deficits, and instead, to sell interest bearing bonds to the IMF, the legislators in the Duma laughed at them, and told them to pack their bags and get out.
Meanwhile, countries that once were part of the Soviet Union from Poland to Hungary have fallen like dominoes into the hands of the western bankers and the IMF. The conflict between Russia and western European countries under the conrol of the bankers is now being played out in Ukraine where amounts of money from Europoean bankers have been spent to stimulate unrest and a revolt against President Viktor F. Yanukovych who decided to accept 15 Billion rubles from Russia instead of 15 billion dollars from the IMF. Yabukovych fled Kiev on Feb. 21st after a mob took over government buildings the preceding day. The new president Arseniy Yatsenyuk who took over in Kiev is a former billionaire banker.
" The “austerity plan will cut social services, funds for education, layoff government workers, devalue the currency, thus raising the prices of imports which include Russian gas, thus electricity, and open Ukrainian assets to takeover by Western corporations… Ukraine’s agriculture lands will pass into the hands of American agribusiness.”
Eventually Ukrainians will regret this sellout to the IMF and western bankers. The control of money and credit in the hands of these bankers will one day create a mountain of debt for the working class by concentrating more wealth in the hands of a privileged few until these countries will become like Greece and other basket cases in the European Union. They will be buried under a mountain of debt, higher interest rates, and taxes, resulting in unemployment, foreclosures, and a lower standard of living.
The controlled mass media whores in this country - ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX wouldn't touch what you can read here with a ten foot pole. They will wax and wane on all kinds of trivial issues with a lot of blah, blah, blah, that has no relevance to the common man struggles - his rent and mortgage payments, a living wage, his house mortgage that is underwater and yes, finding a decent job.
Read the article on "Money Creation" and take action. We are not powerless. It is time to move our checking and saving accounts to non-profit credit unions that are controlled by their own members, not by Wall St Oligarchs. Let us boycott the Big Banks, their collaborators, and the politicians in both political parties that wine and dine with them.

In 2001, Didi Amanda Ruchira was living in Pennsylvania and contacted Keep Hope Alive to obtain a copy of "How To Reverse Immune Dysfunction." [HTRID was written by myself, and other contributors under the pen name, Mark Konlee.] It was in its 6th edition at the time, and was soon followed by the first edition of the Immune Restoration Handbook. She told me at the time she was going to Africa as a medical missionary to help the poor and the sick. She took to heart many of the low cost home remedies in HTRID and added her own ideas from both her training and experiences as a homeopath. In 2003, Didi (the name means Sister) published "Great Health Naturally". Didi reports more than 10,000 copies have been printed and 9000 have been given away for free.
Didi Amanda Ruchira is a member of "Ananda Marga," a global spiritual and social service organization founded in 1955 by Shrii Anandamurti (Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar). The mission of Ananda Marga is self-realization (individual emancipation) and service to humanity (collective welfare): the fulfillment of the physical, mental and spiritual needs of all people. Through its meditation centers and service projects around the world, Ananda Marga offers instruction in meditation, yoga and other self-development practices on a non-commercial basis, and responds to social emergencies and long-term social needs.
The following exchange of emails between us occurred earlier this month. Didi Ruchira in Kenya seeks help to finance a low cost treatment regimen for persons with hiv/aids, malaria and other illnesses in Kenya.
Dear Conrad,
I love the new look of Keep Hope Alive. Thanks for always keeping me updated. As a matter of fact I was just about to write you too! So good timing in getting your email. I want to tell you about a Great Health Naturally project that has been underway for about 10 years and ask your help.
In 2003, I approached Sister Gill of the Korogocho Project (a Catholic project) to institute the Great Health Naturally (GHN, which is=Keep Hope Alive) protocols for PLWHAS. The Korogocho Project serves around 800-1000 PLWHAS with medical and social support. We designed a protocol that could be implemented in such conditions (Korogocho is a squatter urban area in Nairobi, Kenya). The programme has been successfully treating over 70 PLWHAS with natural means. Such persons opt to NOT be on ART (anti-retrovirals) protocols and only use natural meds.
Well, to make a long story short, the long-term donor for that programme has finished their support and Abha Light. I have taken up the task of looking for new funding so that not only these 70 people but to expand it to 130-150 people can continue natural protocols.
The overall effect of this programme, is that this group of patients are generally happier and healthier than those on ARTs. They have high energy levels and positive outlooks. People are lining up to join into this programme, but funding has always limited the numbers that can join.
The full programme budget is $23,500 a year. This includes staff, GHN supplies. and lab testing. Lab testing & X-rays account for nearly half the budget. I'm hoping by employing a homeopath to see to the patients we can reduce that lab budget drastically. Still at this cost we're talking about $20 per patient a month.
At the minimum, I want to raise about $10,000 annually - as an ongoing project. (about $8.5 a month per patient). That would cover the GHN protocol supplies and employ the helpers who prepare it.
Who are the beneficiaries
Korogocho is a squatter area part of Nairobi. About 200,000 people live there. The people of Korogocho slum (as they call it in Kenya) live on less that $1 a day. Except for what is offered by any charitable organizations, few services are available to these people due to lack of finances. Most people work - if at all - in factories which barely pay. More than half of the residents are children.
More details about the project.
Every week, the staff prepares a minimum GHN protocol supplements. Every Monday, the patients come to pick up their week's supply. There's always a nurse on hand to see to the patient's health. The staff records and tracks the markers of the patients health including CD4 counts. Every two weeks the patients have a medical check up.
The protocol they take is:
Lemon-Olive oil Drink (once a week)
Fermented Cabbage Juice (1/2 cup a day)
Brazil nuts - 1 or 2 nuts a day
"Hot Sauce Medicine" - 1 tablespoon a day. ginger, garlic, vinegar, turmeric, molasses, chilies
Psyllium husk - 1 teaspoon a day
Hydrogen peroxide - 5 drops a day
With ALF's new involvement with this project, we will be adding a homeopath to the bi-weekly checkups. We hope this will add value to the healthcare and reduce the lab bills budget.
Conrad, I need your help. If you're interested to help me raise funds for this project, please let's see what we can do together.

To Abha Light Foundation
Dear Didi Amanda Ruchira,
I wish I could help you but I am unable too. My annual budget is smaller than yours and I have written to my mailing list to raise funds to help with various expenses that we have. I am willing to sell your book "Great Health Naturally" as an e-book at keephopealive.org and pass on 100% of the sales to Abha Light Fdn as a donation. I don't know how many sales you will have but it is a valuable and interesting book.
The second subject is that the 6 items you listed above in the doses you suggest is something that has never been used in the United States. I am honestly skeptical that this is protocol is sufficient to stop the advance of HIV. Here are a few pilot programs to test out that might work better [in addition with your protocol] or a stand alone.
Pilot Protocol 1.
Olive leaf extract 18% oleuropein - 2 caps 3 X a day plus Epivir (3TC) taken as recommended by the drug company. Several years ago, a young lady contacted me who said she got their viral load down to zero with the combination of olive leaf extract and Epivir. Now the patents on Epivir have expired, so it should be dirt cheap and there are few or no side effects. Epivir won't work by itself and requires at least one other effective antiviral. Otherwise, Epivir as a monotherapy will work for only a few weeks, then viral resistance sets in - it has to be combined with at least one other strong antiviral. One case is a basis for further research on this simple protocol.
Pilot Protocol 2.
3 mg of Naltrexone once a day before bedtime. In the morning take 10 mg of prednisone. This combination has been used by about 6 persons with great success. CD4 counts have increased significantly and this is more important than the short-sighted view of only focusing on viral load. The cost could be brought down to $20 or $30 a month, if you can get a medical doctor to prescribe these items.
You and I both know that politicians who get elected with donations from Big Pharma have little or no incentive to fund and find a low cost treatment for any disease.
Sincerely, Conrad
Reply from Didi later that day.
Abha Light Foundation
Feb. 6
Dear Conrad,
Thanks for getting back to me. I wasn't asking for your own money directly. I understand your position if you decide you can't help promote a campaign to raise money.
The second subject in your email is that of the 6 items listed, you are honestly skeptical that this is sufficient to stop the advance of HIV.
As for the protocol itself.
Yes it does work. It will improve quality of life, raise CD4, lower viral count., and reduce the side effects of ART (AIDS drugs treatments).
No it doesn't cure. But it will improve the quality of life. We've had over 10 years experience with at least 1000 people. We have documentation (informal reporting) for about 200 - 300 PLHs to support that.
I've had people getting back to me after 5 or 10 years thanking me that they never had to see a doctor since GHN. When coupled with homeopathic treatment and herbal supplements, the effects are even better (including some whose viral load counts go zero)
Without a doubt your own suggestions (naltrexone and prednisone) are good, unfortunately, none of those items are available in Kenya, and would be too expensive (to import) for the average urban poor or rural Kenyan who only earn $1-$10 a day.
You will remember I drew most of my information from your own book "How to Reverse Immune Dysfunction" and your website. My goal was to provide some self-help to people who have nothing and nowhere to go (in 2003 ART still hadn't been introduced on a mass scale). The programme that I'm seeking funding for has a long waiting list of people wishing to join it.
I've never stopped recommending your website to my patients who can access it. And I've never stopped being grateful for the day I came across your website and you and all that you've done for your "grandchildren" (the thousands of readers & users of Great Health, Naturally!)
Love and regards,
Didi Amanda Ruchira

Intestinal health - the foundation of a balanced immune system
No 6 Feb. 17 2014
Conrad LeBeau
Last week I received a call from a doctor on the west coast who had recently purchased the Immune Restoration Handbook. He said he had recently recovered from a form of leukemia with chemotherapy. He wanted to know how to strengthen his immune system. I told him he had good reference "how to" book on immune restoration and should take the time to read and review it.
He also told me he lived on a small farm and raised his own cattle and chickens all organically. He said he followed the paleo diet. I told him that good intestinal health was the foundation of a healthy, balanced and functional immune system and noted that about 90% of our immune cells are in the lymph nodes and peyer's patches of the intestines. He then told me that he had been constipated for the past 40 years. I told him that a low fiber diet high in meat and refined grains is a sure formula for constipation, and is a prerequisite for kidney damage, liver damage, heart disease and cancer - to name a few.
I commented that the ideal diet is one that is plant based, and contains lots of vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts along with occasionally some cold water oily fish like salmon, marinated herring and sardines. As for dairy, real sour cream, kefir and cultured yogurt made from animals fed a diet of 100% grass is for most people a healthy choice. It is best to avoid milk and beef from animals on a grain fed diet and especially when the grains are genetically modified and contain the Bt pesticide and herbicides. As for organic dairy, choose a cheese that is not made in a hurry with rennet. Better to pay a little more and obtain a cheese made from natural probiotic cultures. (Nancy's and Kalona are two brands of cottage cheese made with probiotics.) For totally dairy intolerant individuals, there are Veggie style cheese slices made from soy and also from rice.
It has been said that if there is a problem anywhere in your body, there is a problem in your colon. A toxic colon is the starting point for most food allergies and for stressing the immune response, and shifting it in the inflammatory direction with Th2 cytokines. In the absence of a healthy liver, bile flow and pancreas, fried meats on white bread is a prescription not only for constipation, but putrefaction as well. This leads to auto-intoxification or self poisoning.
The Standard American Diet (SAD) is already in sad shape with meats that contain antibiotics, growth steroids, BT pesticides and herbicides (from GMO corn and soy). The thought of eating a hamburger with all these extras in it should make any health conscious person vomit.
Americans consume too much meat, refined grains and not enough fiber
What is lacking in meat is fiber, and what is lacking in bread made from refined grains is also fiber, so this is a double whammy. Fiber is necessary for supporting the growth of intestinal flora. Without good flora, your immune system will work itself to death trying to eliminate the toxins and foreign proteins from the blood and lymph system.
Good Choices (peas, chickpeas, lentils, beans, quinoa and more)
Buckwheat pancakes that are half buckwheat and half whole wheat and served with maple syrup and berries are a healthy breakfast. Raw fruit and nuts with coconut cream or milk are also a very good choice. Quinoa with plain applesauce and coconut cream are another very good choice.
Boiled dinners are easily digested and are a better choice than fried or baked meat dishes. Crockpot dinners make for more easily digested meals. Try plain organic or grass-fed beef brisket or chuck roast in a crockpot along with rutabagas, onions, carrots and celery. For seasonings, I personally like Mrs Dash garlic and herb blend - it is salt free. For a boiled dinner, use the same meats as in a crockpot or try an organic free range chicken that is simmered along with onions, small red potatoes, carrots, celery and zucchini. Add a little sea salt and some basil for flavor. Left overs from boiled dinners can make a starter base for tasty soups.
For salads, try organic or heirloom vegetables for more flavor. Greek Salads are always a favorite but can be high in salt if too many olives are added. Sliced cucumbers and onions marinated in white wine with added dill or celery seed are a mouth watering side dish. If you have to choose between mayonnaise or a lightly sweetened vinegar dressing, the vinegar dressing is the healthier choice.
This week's message is that we need to stick to the basic building blocks of health - good food, sunlight or sun tanning, exercise, clean water, adequate sleep, friends, love, and a positive attitude are essential is our pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. [If a person tries too hard to find a silver bullet (one pill) to solve their health problems, it may never materialize]

Farm Bill Victories Reported - new mandates expected to slow down FDA's proposed safety regulations
No 5 Feb 10 2014
Conrad LeBeau
Within the past week, the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance reports that
"After more than two years of congressional debate, the Farm Bill is moving forward. Last week, the conference committee issued a report that resolved the differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill. The House voted to approve the conference committee version of the Farm Bill, 251-166, and the Senate is expected to vote on it this week.
"We’ll start with the bad news: the bulk of the Farm Bill continues the same programs that favor large-scale, chemical-intensive, mono-cropping and commodity agriculture. But there is also some good news — we had wins or partial wins on all of the specific issues on which FARFA focused and called for our members to take action. See the various sections below for more information.
"Thank you to everyone who took the time to call or write Congress! We were up against powerful lobbies on all of these issues, but the voices of people like you and coalitions of grassroots organizations carried the day.
"We need to continue building our strength to tackle the many issues our agricultural and food system face. But for now, take a moment to reflect on these victories — they are thanks to you!
Country of Origin Labeling (COOL)
"Despite a well-funded and well-organized fight by multinational meatpackers and their allies, the Farm Bill does not weaken or eliminate COOL. The bill does call for the Agriculture Secretary to conduct an economic analysis of the final rule, something that we welcome. And it even expands COOL a little by adding venison to the list of meats that must be labeled with where it was born, raised, and processed.
Fair Competition
"Again, despite the best efforts of powerful meatpacking companies and industrial ag groups, the Farm Bill does not limit the USDA’s ability to write rules to enforce the Packers and Stockyards Act through GIPSA. These rules are important to protect small poultry farmers from abusive and unfair trade practices by the meatpacking companies who effectively control the market.
Food Safety Rules
"A weakened version of the Benishek Amendment is included in the Farm Bill. This version requires the FDA, when it publishes a final produce safety rule, to also publish:
"An analysis of the scientific information used to develop the final rule, “taking into consideration any information about farming and ranching operations of a variety of sizes, with regional differences, and that have a diversity of production practices and methods.”
An analysis of the economic impact of the final rule.
"A plan to systematically evaluate the impact of the final rule on farming and ranching operations. The agency must develop an ongoing process to evaluate and respond to business concerns.
"The Farm Bill also calls on the Comptroller to report on an annual basis to the House and Senate Ag Committees about how the evaluation and response process is going. While this is not as strong as the original Benishek amendment (which forbid FDA from enforcing any FSMA rule without a scientific and cost analysis), it is still a positive step that sends a signal to the agency that Congress will continue to be involved, and not just leave food safety regulations in the bureaucrats’ hands.
States’ Rights
"The final bill does not include the controversial King Amendment, which would have banned state governments from adopting laws that put conditions on how agriculture and livestock imported from other states was produced or raised.
End of excerpts from Farm and Ranch Freedom
New Congressional mandates will slow down the writing of new regulations under FMSA.
Note: The FDA efforts to write and implement rules to enforce the Food Modernization and Safety Act (FMSA) has been substantially slowed down with two new Congressional requirements. The Farm Bill that has now passed both houses of Congress mandates that when the proposed regulations are published, they must also include a report on the scientific basis for FDA's proposed regulations and an Economic impact statement that the regulations will have on farmers. This could delay any new regulations until after the 2016 Presidential and Congressional elections.
New Study finds that [refined] sugar can increase your risk of cardiac disease by 38%
No 4. Feb. 3 2014C LeBeau
Today, the Journal of the American Medical Assn (JAMA) published online the results of a study that has linked sugar consumption to an increase in heart disease. The study was funded by the Centers for Disease Control. The lead author was CDC researcher Quanhe Yang.
The studies findings were reported across most media outlets today. Surprisingly, the study found that the sugar in just one can of soda consumed daily can increase your risk of heart disease by a third. Most of the sugar in soda is in the form of corn syrup.
"They're seeing that people who are moderately heavy consumers of added sugar have a heightened risk of dying of [heart] disease, and the heaviest users have the highest risk of dying of [heart] disease," said Laura Schmidt, a professor at UCLA in San Francisco who wrote a accompanying commentary in JAMA.
Healthfinder.gov (1) a website from HHS stated:
"Doctors have long believed that extra sugar in a person's diet promotes conditions such as obesity and diabetes. This study finds that the increased risk is directly related to the amount of sugar consumed. those who consume more sugar have the greater risk. The study found that 37% of the sugar consumed came from sweetened beverages."
However, the consumption of whole fruits and vegetables, although containing natural sugars, was not found to promote heart disease. Many previously published studies have found that eating more plant food consisting of fruits and vegetables helps prevent heart disease, cancer, obesity and diabetes.
"By comparison, foods that are naturally rich in sugar -- such as fruit -- also contain lots of fiber and other nutrients, which reduces the impact the sugar has on the body," said Rachel Johnson, professor of nutrition at the University of Vermont.
Healthfinder.gov also reported that The Corn Refiners Assn, who represent manufacturers of high fructose corn syrup, had no comment on the study. Corn syrup is a refined sugar that is the primary sweetener in soda.
The American Heart Association recommends limiting sugar consumption to 100 calories a day for women and 150 a day for men. Well, just one can of soda exceeds that limit in most instances.

Is Maple Syrup a safe alternative to white sugar? What about honey, Dates, Agave nectar and fruit?
Feb., 2014
The refining of sugar to please the palate of consumers and increase sales is the underlying problem in the degradation of the food supply. I recall someone saying several years ago: "the whiter the bread, the sooner you're dead." This comment could also be applied to white sugar and refined white salt.
Unrefined maple syrup and agave nectar are naturally dark in color. The dark color is, from a nutritional standpoint, - black gold. It is the essence of nature's nutrients consisting of natural vitamins, minerals, trace minerals [e.g. selenium, chromium, vanadium, indium etc] antioxidants, enzymes, phenols, phytonutrients and other compounds whose nutritional value are either unknown or barely discovered.
Take maple syrup, for example. There is grade A and grade B. Grade A is somewhat refined [filtered] while Grade B contains all the concentrated nutritional value of the original maple sap, less the water.
Science has found 54 beneficial compounds in Maple Syrup?
According to the University of Rhode Island, Navindra Seeram, and fellow researchers have found 54 beneficial nutritional compounds in Maple syrup. (1) Five of these compounds are new and have been found no where else. One, an antioxidant, was named "quebecol," after the City of Quebec, Canada, where a significant amount of maple syrup is manufactured each year.
“I continue to say that nature is the best chemist, and that maple syrup is becoming a champion food when it comes to the number and variety of beneficial compounds found in it,” Seeram said. “It’s important to note that in our laboratory research we found that several of these compounds possess anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which have been shown to fight cancer, diabetes and bacterial illnesses.” (1)
“We know that the compounds are anti-inflammatory agents and that inflammation has been implicated in several chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancers and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s,” (1) Seeram said.
According to Seeram, "not all sweeteners are created equal." She reported that two of the phenols in maple syrup inhibit carbohydrate enzymes related to the management of type II diabetes. Seeram stated that the beneficial compounds in maple syrup are similar to those found in berries, tea and flaxseed.
Phenols in Maple Syrup arrest cancer growth
Seeram NP, Edmonds ME and fellow researchers at the University of Rhode Island also found that Maple polyphenols, ginnalins A-C arrested the growth of colon and breast cancer cells by interference of the cell cycles. The maple syrup was derived from the red maple species (Acer saccharum Marsh, A. rubrum L.). The researchers found that the phenol ginnalins A-C did not actually kill the cancer cells (apoptosis), but stopped them from growing.
Alternatives to refined sugar
A study by Phillips KM et al published in the Journal of the Dietetic Association (3) compared the antioxidant value of alternatives to refined sugar. The authors reported that oxidative damage is implicated in cardiovascular and other diseases, and that increasing the consumption of foods high in antioxidants would have a beneficial effect in preventing these diseases. The study was based on "the ferric-reducing ability of plasma (FRAP) assay to estimate total antioxidant capacity." Major brands of sweeteners as well as refined white sugar and corn syrup were sampled. Their findings are as follows:
"RESULTS: Substantial differences in total antioxidant content of different sweeteners were found. Refined sugar, corn syrup, and agave nectar contained minimal antioxidant activity (<0.01 mmol FRAP/100 g); raw cane sugar had a higher FRAP (0.1 mmol/100 g). Dark and blackstrap molasses had the highest FRAP (4.6 to 4.9 mmol/100 g), while maple syrup, brown sugar*, and honey * showed intermediate antioxidant capacity (0.2 to 0.7 mmol FRAP/100 g). Based on an average intake of 130 g/day refined sugars and the antioxidant activity measured in typical diets, substituting alternative sweeteners could increase antioxidant intake an average of 2.6 mmol/day, similar to the amount found in a serving of berries or nuts. CONCLUSION: Many readily available alternatives to refined sugar offer the potential benefit of antioxidant activity."
*Note: This study does not indicate whether grade A or B maple syrup was used or whether the light or dark agave nectar was used. The darker the maple syrup (grade B), the darker the honey, and dark agave nectar as well as dark brown sugar would have higher trace mineral and anti-oxidant values than filtered or refined products.

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel front page article today is on the growing national debate over GMO labeling
No 3 Jan 27th 2014
Conrad LeBeau
While a bone chilling cold swept into Wisconsin this week with yet another Artic vortex, my soul was warmed with this mornings headline in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "Debate rages over food labeling" The article by Joe Taschler introduced the topic of the growing national debate over the labeling of genetically engineered foods. Here are some excerpts:
Inject a gene from a certain cold-water fish into a strawberry, and the strawberry can withstand colder temperatures. But would you still want to eat it?.......The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 93% of soybean acres and 85% of corn acres in 2013 were planted with genetically modified , herbicide - tolerant crop varieties.......There is an entire movement that argues there are risks to genetically modified food, not the least of which are unknown or unintended consequences of the products.
The Journal- Sentinel article stuck a neutral note by quoting experts from both sides of the arguments, although they avoided getting into the weeds of the scientific research on GMO's. The article barely scratched the surface of the current debate, but by placing it on the front page, the Journal-Sentinel has introduced a new topic to the public and opened the door to making people aware that they have been eating genetically modified foods. The article quoted professor Michael Pariza of the University of Wisconsin Madison:
"How do I prove that my chicken that's laying eggs didn't eat some genetically engineered soybeans? How do I know that my cow didn't eat some genetically engineered corn?"
This afternoon, after reading the article, I emailed copies of three full text scientific articles by the Seralini scientific group of Paris, France, to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporters John Fauber and John Diedrich. [The GMO Seralini article is available on a link in the "green" column to the right of this article.]
NaturalNews reports that The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) is now in panic mode and is threatening to sue any state that passes laws to label GMO foods. This food fight will resume the spring with a nationwide protest planned for May. Stay tuned.
Updated news about this website
I am slowly getting a handle on designing a more functional website. For now, I have all but given up on using Wordpress, the free web site design program, because of limited software tools to redesign the right side column in a user friendly format. Although I have just begun to read a 2 and one-inch think manual for Adobe's Dreamweaver program, I have found it easier to work with than Wordpress. This page you are now reading was designed using Adobe's Dreamweaver program. I am looking at 2 to 3 months effort to redo this entire website. The alternative, to hire a computer programmer, at $175 an hour, is out of the question. Keep Hope Alive's home page was now set up earlier this month using Dreamweaver. Next week, I plan to upload a dozen or more files reformatted with this program. It should all look yummy like this page does. The font and type are larger, and this lightly colored background makes it easier to read. If you like it, share it with your friends. Your opinion matters. Send me an email here Thanks.
The Flu Epidemic
No. 2 Jan 20th, 2014
Conrad LeBeau
The issues of the Journal of Immunity for 2013 and 2012 have been reformatted with Dreamweaver*. The search box at works fine and if you type in "flu" it retrieves Vol 10 No 4 adn other articles. With the Winter Flu and the H1N1 virus spreading, it is a newsletter with self-help information well worth revisiting again.
* Updated Feb. 5 2014 Wordpress was discontinued in favor of Dreamweaver.
A couple of points I would like to add when dealing with a stubborn cold or flu, and these are based on my own experiences. Any food whose byproducts during digestion is attacked by the antibody arm of the immune system (TH2) will weaken your over-all ability to fight many infections including colds and flu's. The number one product I found it necessary to eliminate is cow's milk and ice cream, and with any active flu, cold, bronchitis, asthma, chest cold, pneumonia, or sinusitis condition present, this extends to all milk products including cheese, yogurt, cream and kefir. the exception is butter as it has very little milk proteins in it. At least 150 persons at earthclinic.com have reported that eating ice cream was linked to their cold and sinus conditions.
The other keys foods to abstain from are those listed by J.J. Virgin in her book "The Virgin Diet." These are foods that are widely known to cause adverse immune reactions and include refined sugar, corn syrup and soda, gluten, chocolate, eggs besides dairy milk products. Sugar weakens the immune response to most diseases from the common cold to cancer.
What I found very helpful as Organic Free Range Chicken Broth. I heated this up with Wakame seaweed and also took a cayenne capsule or added a pinch of cayenne to the broth. This raises body temperature. Key factors in supporting body temperature is to use supplements that support thyroid function. These include potassium iodide or kelp, l-tyrosine and natural selenium. If you belong to a local fitness club and have access to a steam room or sauna, use it. Snacks- sauerkraut with sliced raw garlic warmed up. Raw garlic on rye crisp with Humus.
One person told me he got under electric blanket and several layers of blankets on top to induce a fever. When body temperature is below normal (98.6 F) taking aspirin will shut off the immune response and the condition could worsen or be prolonged. I have found that when a fever is present, the use of small amounts of oral hydrogen peroxide is very effective is knocking out the infection.
See Vol 10 No 4 of JOI for more ideas. As for vaccines, I am taking a neutral position. I am hearing that local people who got the flu shot are getting sick. Getting a vaccination is a gamble either way. If the vaccine is clean, it is an asset; if it is dirty and is contaminated with live viruses of unknown origin, it may not be worth it. If you don't improve or develop complications like a pulse rate over 90, shortness of breath, chest pains, low body temperature (below 96 F) see your doctor or go to the Emergency Room.
The First Report on News and Current Events
No 1 Jan 15, 2014
Conrad LeBeau
This improved web site was set up using an older version of Dreamweaver. I added this new link (Breaking News and Current Events) and plan to update it regularly once a week on mondays. I also plan to add more full-text scientific articles with a link in the right column of the home page. I can assure you I won't over design it. I did remove Goggles search box because of the pop up ads that came with it. There is a search box at the new wordpress newsletters links but it does not yet access the entire web site. There is a lot of very valuable information on this web site that was published 5, 10, 15 and even 20 years ago although the files don't look pretty just yet. In due time, they will all be easier to read in the new format. Meanwhile the link on the home page to all 20 years of health journals gives you an overview of all the most important info on our web site.
Other news. There is still no word from US District Judge Charles Clevert on his review of my federal case with the FDA. Feb.. 13, 2014 will mark one year since my last legal briefs were filed. I am hoping for a decision soon so I can appeal it to the 7th circuit in Chicago [in the event he rules in favor of the FDA.] Should he rule against the FDA, it will be up to the local U.S. attorney to appeal his decision. There is a lot riding on this case. If I prevail on my legal arguments, it will help restore the legality and legitimacy of food-based medicine, and speech about the use of food as medicine. Presently, the FDA considers unapproved speech a "crime." That needs to change if the 1st amendment, 9th and 10th are to have any real meaning under our United States Constitution.
Some Good News. The Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance reported that the FDA has withdrawn its proposed regulations for farmers under the Food Modernization and Safety Act (FMSA) due to a storm of criticism that came from all farming sectors - from the small farmer to the largest corporate farms. This badly designed legislation is more federal regulatory overkill and does not solve the problem of making fresh fruits and vegetables safer from pathogens for consumers. It mandates tons of testing and record keeping and attempts to tell farmers how to run their farms down to the smallest details. In my opinion, this law backed by Senators Dick Durbin and Harry Reed and many others is unconstitutional on its face. Farm and Freedom Alliance announced that the FDA has withdrawn its current proposed regulations and is rewriting them. The FDA will republish their new proposed regulations for FMSA in mid-2014, and offer a new comment period. We will stay on top on this evolving story. Check back each monday evening for updated news.
West Allis - tilting at windmills. A few weeks ago, I wrote to the City of West Allis seeking updated information on their local ordinance for restrictions for installing a small windmill that produces electricity. I still have the wind turbine (about the size of a ceiling fan) stored in a cardboard box in my office that I purchased about 4 years ago. After the city passed its restrictions in 2009, I calculated it would add about $1000 in fees, architectural drawings and permits to put up this small wind turbine that cost me less than $600 to purchase at the time. Since the laws in Wisconsin only allow restrictions for health and security reasons, I have inquired as to what health and security factors would be advanced by these burdensome and costly regulations. I have not had a response yet but will keep readers informed on this locally evolving legal skirmish with the city involving me and my windmill.
